The NFL has announced the four-game suspensions for Washington Redskins tight end Fred Davis and left tackle Trent Williams for violating the league's substance abuse policy.

Seattle Seahawks rookie guard John Moffitt has also been suspended for four games without pay for violating the NFL's policy on performance-enhancing substances.

The suspensions had been expected. A person familiar with the decision told The Associated Press on Sunday that Davis and Williams were expecting to be penalized after failing multiple drug tests. The person spoke anonymously because of the confidential nature of the league's drug testing policy.

Moffitt will serve his suspension beginning immediately, even though he is currently on injured reserve and out for the season with a right knee injury.

The specifics of why Moffitt was suspended were not released.

Moffitt was Seattle's third-round pick in last April's draft out of Wisconsin and started the first nine games at right guard before suffering a pair of torn knee ligaments in Seattle's Week 10 win over Baltimore. He's one of three starting offensive linemen currently on injured reserve for the Seahawks, along with right tackle James Carpenter and left tackle Russell Okung.

Correction on that Alphonso Smith tweet. He has two interceptions, including one pick-six. #Lions #Vikings

Props to Jared Allen....with his 3 sacks today, that gives him 17.5 sacks on the year, and 100.5 sacks for his career.

Rob Gronkowski is having the best all around year for a TE in NFL history.

6 more receptions for 160 yards and 2 TDs tonight.

71 receptions for 1088 yards and 15 TDs (plus 1 TD that was considered a rushing attempt).

Dude has played in 29 career games and has 26 TDs.

Yep....props to Gary Kubiak on a 10-3 record and securing a playoff spot.

The Texans were smart to stick with Kubes, as he was in the process of building the foundation of a very good team the last few years.

And it sucks for them that Schaub went out but it could be convenient that he stayed around long enough to set them up for taking the division but left enough games for Yates to get his feet under him. He may not be the next Peyton Manning but it doesn't sound like he's Blaine Gabbert either.

By the way, how about Dallas' kicker getting iced two weeks in a row?

Last week he missed the 2nd and this week it was blocked. That's the kind of head games that can ruin a guy.

Just saw this on Yahoo about Yates' family getting ****ty seats for the game in Cincy. That's terrible but hilarious.

Yates is proving to be quite a bit better than people expected. Probably helps to have great QB development people there in Houston.

It's so hilarious to me that the Chiefs let that guy go. 57.5 sacks in four years since leaving the Chiefs.

It was no secret what they had. Unfortunately for them, he had a few bad years there with the booze. He's always been a tremendous player but you can't blame them for not wanting to invest their future in a guy that can't choose between booze and car keys.

Doesn't change the fact that KC giving the guy up is really freaking hilarious...

Undrafted rookie WR Doug Baldwin from Stanford is kicking some ass for Seattle.

He blocked a punt tonight and also snagged 7 passes for 93 yards and a TD.

45 receptions for 718 yards and 3 TDs on the year.

I didn't really have him on my radar in the last draft, despite him having a solid season in 2010 at Stanford.

Dan Marino's single season record of 5,084 passing yards, set in 1984, is almost sure to go down this year.

I know it's a different league, with different rules, but it's still interesting to see a record that has stood for 27 years ready to be erased.

5,084 yards in 16 games is 317.75 yards passing per game.

There are 4 QBs who can challenge that this year.

All 4 QBs have 3 games left to play, if they stay healthy.

Drew Brees has 4,368 yards passing....336 yard per game. On pace for 5,376 yard passing. To beat Dan Marino's record, Brees will only have to average 239 yards passing per game (717 yards/3 games).

Tom Brady isn't far behind. Brady has 4,273 yards passing....329 yards per game. On pace for 5,260 yards. To beat Dan Marino's record, Brady will only have to average 271 yards passing per game (813 yards/3 games).

The other 2 QBs who have a shot are:

Aaron Rodgers with 4,125 yards....but I think they will sit him for a few quarters down the stretch if they have their games in hand.

Eli Manning is slightly under Dan Marino's pace, with 4,105 yards (316 yards per game). He may have a shot, but either Drew Brees or Tom Brady will probably hold the record at the end of the year.

I guess I wouldn't mind seeing Drew Brees own the record....he was very close in 2008 with 5,069 yards and would then have 2 seasons with over 5,000 yards passing.

The league is cyclical....eventually running will become more in vogue again....look at Denver.

A good running game eats up clock and gives your defense a rest....teams will shift back and run more eventually, despite the league's desire for wide open air-it-out, score happy results every week.

A lot of the WR screens that teams use may as well be running plays.

Every Bronco fan who suffered through McDaniels knows that statement is completely false.

I'm sure teams are looking at the Broncos leading the league in 3 and outs and scoring less than 3/4 of the offenses in the league and saying to themselves, yup let's do what they're doing on offense.
