Then, I go to the local RV lot and pick out a couple of the newest, most tricked out super busses (with tinted windows) they have (**** this constant radiator leak nonsense). Then I go to the supermarket (and liquor store) and fill them with food and assorted goodies. Then, I head for Savannah, load up a ferry with all my goods, and motor on out to one of the barrier islands where no zombies can go and party hearty for the rest of my days, or somebody clears up the zombie problem.

I have put alot of thought into what I would do if a zombie apocalypse had occured.

I would go with edge weapons. Machetes, bowie knives, lances, samurai swords. I'd also have some blunt instruments like fire axes, bats or sledgehammers. Guns I would have as emergency measures. Ammo is a finite resource. If the zombies are early-Romeroesque and slow moving, I would do fine if I could keep moving. Trouble comes when you stop and get swarmed. If they are 28 days later type zombies, I only move at night and avoid major population centers. I cannot outrun 100,000 marion jones zombies. It wont happen. Either case, when I need sleep, I pick high ground that would be impossible for a zombie to climb into. I would also ensure I have 5 different ways to get out.

My vehicles would be me powered. Walking, running, bikes. Gas is also a finite resource. In time, I would find other survivors and we would need to establish a safe zone where people who cannot fight or run are kept. This place would need to be defensible, hard to get into and have a water supply with arable land for food. Canned goods wont last forever. I would need specialists for energy, health, education and defense. The safe zone would have several rings built around it with ways out if the defensive rings get overrun. I'd also have packs of guard dogs. Every little bit helps. Between the defensive rings would be a quarentine area for new survivors. If they do not display signs of infection after 2 weeks, and they get cleared by my medical personnel, they can join the settlement.

The vehicles we would have would be used for evacuation or supply pickup purposes only, and they would be APC's from Ft Carson. If I am lucky enough to have a few aviation mechanics, maybe a helicopter or two. I figure a zombie apocalypse would last roughly three years. By the third year, most of the zombies would be too rotted to move or be skeletons. At this point I would send out salvage teams and attempt to find other pockets of survivors and rebuild society from the ground up. After five years any corpse found would be burned, no exceptions. Hopefully by this time we have communication with places outside North America to find out if anyone else in the world is still alive.
