The White house has to be aware of this attitude yet they sit on their hands. How can any of you still believe in a government solution?
The "If only so and so is elected we can right the ship" belief is nothing more than a feel good denial. Wake up people it's 2 minutes to midnight. |

For those unaccustomed to the loopholes and shelters of the corporate tax code, GE's success at avoiding taxes is nothing short of extraordinary. The company, led by Immelt, earned $14.2 billion in profits in 2010, but it paid not a penny in taxes because the bulk of those profits, some $9 billion, were offshore. In fact, GE got a $3.2 billion tax benefit. http://abcnews.go.com/Politics/gener...ry?id=13224558 The report, “The Sad But True Story Of Wages In America,” by economists Lawrence Mishel and Heidi Shierholz, finds that American workers across the board -- whether in the private or public sector, high school- or college-educated –- "have suffered from decades of stagnating wages despite large gains in productivity." The trend isn’t new, either. Between 1979 and 2009, EPI says, U.S. productivity increased by 80 percent, while the hourly wage of the median worker has only gone up by 10.1 percent.http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2011/0..._n_837814.html The 22 statistics detailed here prove beyond a shadow of a doubt that the middle class is being systematically wiped out of existence in America... • Only the top 5 percent of U.S. households have earned enough additional income to match the rise in housing costs since 1975. • For the first time in U.S. history, banks own a greater share of residential housing net worth in the United States than all individual Americans put together. • In 1950, the ratio of the average executive's paycheck to the average worker's paycheck was about 30 to 1. Since the year 2000, that ratio has exploded to between 300 to 500 to one. • As of 2007, the bottom 80 percent of American households held about 7% of the liquid financial assets. • The bottom 50 percent of income earners in the United States now collectively own less than 1 percent of the nation’s wealth. • Average Wall Street bonuses for 2009 were up 17 percent when compared with 2008. The rich are getting richer and the poor are getting poorer at a staggering rate. Once upon a time, the United States had the largest and most prosperous middle class in the history of the world, but now that is changing at a blinding pace. http://finance.yahoo.com/tech-ticker...CD,WMT,XRT,DIA |

I don't know if this has been posted yet?
http://www.theblaze.com/stories/the-...their-example/ The 53% is a group of responsible young people organizing across the country. However, this group is not camping out in parks around the country and demanding the entire capitalist system be destroyed. These men and women have jobs (most of them work at more than one job in order to make ends meet), ![]() Last edited by DomCasual; 10-07-2011 at 10:51 AM.. |

Protesting the fed is a good place to start people need a leader and a reasonable plan start with reinstalling the Glass–Steagall Act.

Okay, for someone with a less simple mind than me, what is the realistic end game for all these protests?

I'm hearing a lot of calls for cooperation between the groups and focus on a common enemy which I agree with whole heartedly. Our power lays in solidarity and out of desperation it is happening.

Because they saw what happened in Egypt and what is happening in Europe. IMO, this is only the beginning. The first rumblings. If things don't change, the rumblings will lead to a volcano.

IMO Chris Hedges hit the nail when he said -- it is not our job (as activists) to take political power -- but rather -- to take a principled position and talk truth to power.
In other words -- to make the rulers scared of the 99%. MHG |
