I don't think The Princess Bride is worth trying. The entire movie is too quotable. That would be like remaking Animal House, The Wizard of Oz or some other similarly epic movie. I know, everyone is saying "they remade Karate Kid!!" First of all, the new one sucked. Second of all, the old one hasn't aged well. Princess Bride certainly isn't modern, but you can still watch it today and it holds its own.

A new Superman movie was overdue. I hope they do it right, though.

I'd like to see them reboot some old shows but actually do the shows and not just crappy movies, like Macgyver, Magnum PI or Buck Rogers. They rebooted Battlestar Galactica and it was a huge improvement.

I think we're due for a good Star Trek show too.

"You know George, when everyone called the movie flat and completely lacking in any depth, this wasn’t what they meant."

Transformers is too big a film franchise to just go away now that Michael Bay has done his three films. The director says he’s gone. Shia LaBeouf says he’s done. (“I’m sure they’ll make more of them, it’s still a very hot franchise, there’s still value in it. I think people will still go to see it. I just don’t know if I have anything to contribute.”) So what next? Given the way we know things are likely to happen with a series like Batman, one obvious supposition is: reboot. But that evidently isn’t in the cards, either, at least not now.
Who do you want as the next Director, Lead Actor, and Lead actress?

Death Note has been optioned for a live-action Hollywood remake. A 2007 article in The Star (Malaysia) states that more than ten film companies in the United States expressed interest in creating a remake. The live-action Hollywood remake will be directed by Shane Black, the director of Kiss Kiss Bang Bang, for Warner Brothers.[26]

That leaves:

Coming to America

Now starring Lil Jon

The Princess Bride

Now starring: Chris Evans, Isla Fischer, the new wrestling Giant guy, Mike Myers as the "Inconceivable!" guy, and Benicio Del Toro as Enigo Montoya

And Ferris Buellers Day Off:

Now starring: Well **** I dunno. How about Troy from Community? and Seth Rogan as Cameron
Your casting for Princess Bride sucks balls. Except perhaps Myers as Vizzini, that might work.

Len Wiseman‘s big screen adaptation/remake of Total Recall is shooting this week the Toronto Convention Centre in Toronto, Ontario Canada, and a bunch of set photos have hit the web showing “Federal Police” hover cars, a bunch of extras in futuristic looking trooper costumes, large green screens, and a large 14-foot green beanbag which will probably be replaced by some sort of computer created creature or device. Hit the jump to see the photos for yourself.

Here’s the first real trailer for Wong Kar Wai‘s martial arts biopic The Grandmasters. It’s a hell of a thing, with Tony Leung as the literal white hat hero facing down a courtyard full of adversaries as rain falls and water splashes in super slo-mo. It looks a bit like Wong Kar Wai shooting the ‘burly brawl’ from the second Matrix film. (Which itself was obviously a knockoff and amping-up of legions of other martial arts fights.)

The trailer is a bit dark, lacks subtitles, and may come off as exciting and beautiful, or murky and confusing, depending on your appetite for this sort of fight scene
In 2008 Wilson Yip’s film Ip Man, based on the legendary life of early Wing Chun practitioner and Bruce Lee instructor Yip Man (aka Ip Man) was released with Donnie Yen playing the title role. The movie was a massive hit and spawned a sequel and numerous knockoff projects.

An unnamed source (who was “briefed on the project but not authorized to talk about it publicly”) told 24 Frames that Peter Segal was among the directors New Line had spoken to about the project. Segal’s last two projects have been reboots as well — 2008′s Get Smart and 2005′s The Longest Yard, neither of which garnered particularly positive reviews. His other credits include Anger Management, Tommy Boy, Naked Gun 33 1/3, and Nutty Professor II: The Klumps.

But those plans are now dead, as New Line and Warner Bros. have let the Escape From New York remake option lapse. Deadline has the news, and notes that this doesn’t mean that a remake of Escape From New York will never happen, as someone else could pick up the option and develop a film. But for now fans get a reprieve and won’t have to worry about a Len Wiseman take on the property.

Ridley Scott is returning to his roots, revisiting his definitive -- and beloved -- cyberpunk film "Blade Runner," for Alcon Entertainment.

Filmmakers haven't hired a writer yet, and are still figuring out what the story will be, producer Andrew Kosove told TheWrap Thursday.

"This is arguably the greatest science fiction movie ever made and we're not remaking it," he said. "It's a prequel or a sequel."

Alcon secured the rights to "Blade Runner" for prequels, sequels and other projects last March.

http://www.slashfilm.com/david-foste...r-trek-series/

Quote:
Foster envisions his series as a return to Roddenberry’s original concept. “[W]hile Star Trek has moved on with other series that were not exactly in line with Gene’s original vision, the roots are there to tap into,” he said. Don’t expect something too old-fashioned, though — Foster also lists Joss Whedon, Ron Moore, Manny Coto, and J. Michael Straczynski as his inspirations on his site.

Timeline-wise, the new series will very definitely be moving forward. The show will take place in the post-Voyager era, and will remain faithful to pre-2009 canon as well as Star Trek: Enterprise canon. (Since Abrams’ 2009 film took place in an alternate timeline, Foster’s story would not be in conflict with Abrams’.)

Although Foster was reluctant to spill too many details, he revealed a bit about the plot:

The series is highly energized with a much younger cast, and uses cutting-edge future technologies with newly envisioned special effects and designs. It includes Klingons, Ferengi, Andorians, Vulcans, Trill, and many more. The Klingons are getting very restless since the Praxis incident forced them to come to the peace tables, and are tired of having to rely on the Federation for support. The Ferengi have discovered a vast new resource that has propelled them towards instant riches and power beyond anything they have previously experienced.
