Steve Young's 49ers had a boat load of free agents I think. Rickey Waters, Ricky Jackson and Deon come to mind. That mindset followed Shanahan to Denver with a lot of guys wanting that championship but it has not been successful recently.

I'm not arguing against the idea of spending money on free agency. I'm just not remembering a team that brought in a bunch free agents in one offseason and won it all. It seems to me the teams that are close and get one or two to get them over the edge are not uncommon. However those players usually come into an already established team that is competitive and has chemistry with each other. Signing ten free agents, even if they're good, takes time for them to learn to work with each other.

I'm confused as to how one would use 4 screws as the only fixation in a metacarpal fracture. I could see like 1, maybe 2 screws or 4 screws and a plate, but 4 screws doesn't make sense unless it was a really odd fracture/s.

I'm also confused as to how that guy gets hurt so damn much.

I'm no fan of Terrelle Pryor, but he deserves the right to play in the NFL this year and the way to do that is via a supplemental draft.

Chargers just re-signed Malcolm Floyd.

Potent offense with Vincent Jackson, Gates, Floyd, and Patrick Crayton catching passes from Rivers. Plus Ryan Mathews out of the backfield.

If Bob Sanders can actually play a full season...look out...althought with change of DC we'll see if that helps or hurts...

I disagree. If the NFL can't work in a supplemental draft in a time frame that works for them then to bad. He put himself in this situation. As for the NFL, it is an unusual year with the lock out and I understand them not bending over backwards to accommodate Pryor.

i was hoping floyd wouldnt return....

yeah their passing game will be dangerous...

i still don't think the run game will be much so i hope our pass rush shuts them down...

the decisions he made in college should be irrelevant...

if there is no supp draft, then he should be classified as an undrafted free agent...

he is an adult no longer in college that will be wanted by a few nfl teams...

he should be allowed to find work with one, and if he isn't he should pursue litigation...

1995 was Shanny's first year and he started to bring in FA's at that time. It lead to the 1996 season where the Broncos went 13-3 and then crapped themselves in the playoffs (I know you know this stuff). I'm pretty sure Shanny was still bringing in FAs in 1997 when the Broncos went to and won their first SB (1998).

But the flurry of FA's happened in that window that got them the 2 SBs. At least, that is what I remember.

Well, the other argument that I've seen is that at the time he decided to leave school for the NFL, it was purely his own decision. He was still on the Ohio State team and decided he was done with NCAA ball. Apparently if a player is ineligible to play, they allow them to go in the supplemental draft but you can't just go that route because you decide to. The time to declare for the NFL was well before and he should've made that decision when everyone else did.

People would be a lot less concerned with declaring for the draft in time if they knew they could just declare when they felt like it for the supplemental draft. You'd also have teams who could use a future pick for a player that'd help you right away so it could even be appealing for some people to go that route as they might get drafted slightly higher than they otherwise would.

Just saw on PFT that the Pats signed Andre Carter now.

I wonder if they aren't just trying to get another trophy before Brady's time comes. Why else get so many older vets when they always seem to have as many draft picks as they'd like to select players.
