Just out of curiosity, how old are you? I'm 34 and the video game references were all very relevant to my youth, and thus very entertaining. All in all, it is a very gen-X movie.

I really, really reccommend The Filth and the Fury. Fantastic documentary about the Sex Pistols. The SPs music was overshadowed by their infamy in England. Their music stands on it's own and its too bad the band disintigrated before they could record more songs. The Pistols were too controversial to ever survive but at least they were around long enough to record some fantastic music...

I'll have to check it out. Love the Pistols music.

Valkyrie- one of the better Tom Cruise movies, and based on a true story in WW2 that doesn't get mentioned enough. I think it is important that people know that there was a strong faction within the German regime that wanted Hitler dead as bad as the rest of the world.

Hotel Rwanda- with Don Cheadle. Another true story about a hotel operator in Rwanda that risks his life to save a 1000 or so refugees from being just another statistic in the genocide count. Tragic, but wonderful movie.

Devil in the Blue Dress- with Denzel Washington & Don Cheadle. Set in 1940's L.A., Denzel plays a recently laid off middle class working stiff who takes a seemingly routine private detective case, and finds a deadly conspiracy that goes all the way to the mayoral race. Great flick.

Thanks I watched this one because I had heard of it, wanted to see it, never did all the way through. Went back and watched it and your right by far Cheadles best performance since Colors!! j/k, best for sure.

Just watched a GREAT western that I hadn't heard of last night..."the Missing". Wow. Very well done, solid acting all around. It's a little over 2 hours, but well worth the time and it FLIES by.

Basically, an Apache war tribe is stealing girls and selling them in Mexico. They get a hold of Kate Blanchetts kid, and she must reconcile with her father (Tommy Lee Jones) in an effort to track her down and get her back. Some INTENSE scenes. Plenty of action, beautiful camera work...its a Ron Howard directed masterpiece of a classic novel. Pretty cool stuff!

Everyone in this mashup, BTW, spoilers are out of context and give no plot clues.

Agreed.
As I said in an earlier post, I had never been a fan of foreign language films, until this thread. I decided to check a couple of them out, and for the most part, have a new appreciation of them.

I watched the Girl with the Dragon Tatoo first, and absolutely loved it. I gave it 5 stars on the Netflix rating system. Of course, I had to see the other two in the order you mentioned and was not disappointed.

Apparently, there is an American version of the 1st one being made with Daniel Craig as the male star; but I can't imagine that they can replace Noomi Rapace so easily, as she was just awesome as the troubled, but brilliant young computer hacker.

While I don't trust this remake at all, I'll watch it for sure, if only for the reason to see how badly Hollywood screws it up!

It was a very good movie in addition to the kickass fights.

Lays on the Chinese nationalism pretty thick, but I really did not mind given the context of the period.

Yeah. It did swiss cheese the history a little. Like Ip Man doesn't leave China because of the Japanese invasion. it was because the Communist out lawed Kung Fu and all who practiced.
