Awesome show!

The show was unbelievable. Victor is great, but Stanley is still king.

I went to the Iridium in March '09 to see Les Paul's Monday night gig. Went back a few nights later to see a guitarist who's name is escaping me....

I'll take Wooten 10/10 times.

Stanley's great, dont get me wrong, but as a bass player who has learned plenty of both of their techniques, Vic is the king among bass players for a reason. Dude revolutionized the instrument with a similar impact that Jaco had.

Had a chance to sit in with Stan and his group on one occasion. I still have the hand-written chart for his rendition of "Goodbye Pork Pie Hat" he gave me.

No big deal - just sat in with Stan on a tune when he came to M.I. for a clinic. He sometimes invites students and faculty to sit in.

I don't know Allan - I've just said "hello" to him and chatted briefly on two occasions.

First version I ever heard, off his Wired album. Watch this video, this guy is so disinterested ... misses strings at :56 and 1:10, junky fret hammers at 3:30-something, zero energy. From 2:55 to 3:15 he's sounds like a 14 year-old kid who just got a guitar for Christmas. He embarrassed himself at halftime of an NFL Playoff game this year, too. I was embarrassed for him.

Am I missing something, is he wasted, what?

A gold top Deluxe for $900? That doesn't sound right. It is a Gibson, not a sneaky Epiphone. Don't tempt me ....

Do those P-90s give you the snap of a classic single coil? I never told you this because you're such an unrelenting purist, but right around the time my LP was stolen, I was set to make a big modification. Pull the neck humbucker, and lay in a coil-tap/coil-split pickup. A Duncan I think, and a snap-up volume pot for that pickup. You know I love the neck pickup on a Strat ... clean with just a dash of reverb.

Nice Steely Dan cover featuring David Crosby (I was surprised too) on vocals and a great unknown guitarist named Jeff Pevar. Borrowed his amp for a recording session once - really nice guy.
