![]() The Dolphins reportedly have "zero" chance of re-signing NT Paul Soliai before the onset of free agency in March. Soliai wants to cash in on his breakout second half, which makes it nearly impossible for an extension with the "30 percent" rule in effect. Soliai's camp is expecting a "free-for-all" once he hits the open market. As a run-plugging 350-pounder, he'll be in high demand among teams running 3-4 schemes. Coach Mike McCarthy was noncommittal Wednesday when asked whether the Packers would re-sign free agent RE Cullen Jenkins.
McCarthy spoke in the past tense when saying he "really enjoyed coaching Cullen," and hinted that the Packers tired of Jenkins' constant nagging injuries. "He has been an extremely productive and premier player, especially when he is healthy," said McCarthy. Jenkins is a dynamic pass rusher at 100 percent, but he has missed 17 games over the past three seasons. Source: Green Bay Press-Gazette Feb 10, 12:36:00 PM |

![]() Though the San Francisco Chronicle has reported that Richard Seymour will be slapped with the franchise tag, NFL Network's Jason LaCanfora expects the Raiders to use the tag on TE Zach Miller. The Chronicle and LaCanfora are both citing sources. The Raiders may end up using both the franchise and the transition tag. If they do plan to franchise Miller, there's a good chance they will lock up Seymour to a long-term deal. Miller, the most valuable member of the Oakland passing game, just turned 25 years old after four years in the NFL. It would be far less expensive to franchise a tight end than a defensive end. Last year, former NFL scout and ESPN employee Jeremy Green was arrested for possession of child pornography, along with drug-related charges. Green has now pleaded guilty to possession of child pornography, according to the Hartford Courant. During a two-hour online chat in June 2010, Green allegedly sent “sexually explicit photos and videos of a toddler” to an undercover officer using the screen name ‘lendingmom12,’ and Green allegedly said he couldn’t wait for her to bring her three children to Connecticut. ![]() The arrest warrant states that Green sent the undercover officer “17 pictures of a toddler, two videos of a toddler and one video of an 8-year-old girl.” Green, the son of former Vikings coach, former Cardinals coach, and current Sacramento Mountain Lions coach Dennis Green, is expected to receive a sentence of 20 years in prison, suspended after five. Jeremy Green worked for the Browns before joining ESPN. |

That Jeremy Green story is ****ed up....I knew it involved child pornography....but toddler pics, young kids, and **** like that is a whole different ball game than having some teen porn or something like that on your computer.

The New England Patriots officially placed their franchise tag on Pro Bowl guard Logan Mankins on Monday, according to a league source.
Mankins is the first player to be designated a team's franchise player this offseason. The franchise tag binds Mankins to the Patriots for one year. The projected contract for a franchised offensive lineman is $10.1 million, down from $10.7 million last season. Mankins, 28, was a first-round draft pick of the Patriots in 2005. He has been to three Pro Bowls, including this year. http://sports.espn.go.com/boston/nfl...ory?id=6121690 |

The Philadelphia Eagles placed their franchise tag on Michael Vick on Tuesday, the team announced.
In addition, the Eagles announced that they have placed the transition tag on kicker David Akers. Under rules of the past collective bargaining agreement, the transition tag allowed teams to match any offer given to the designated player in free agency. It is uncertain if franchise and transition tags will be part of the next CBA. ESPN.com reported last month that the Eagles would franchise Vick. If franchise tags are upheld, the move will tie Vick to Philadelphia for the 2011 season and put the Eagles in a better position to potentially trade Kevin Kolb, who wants to start somewhere next season. Logan Mankins received the New England Patriots' franchise tag on Monday. But no players are expected to sign franchise tags while the NFLPA challenges their validity. http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=6123655 |

Hall of Famer Woodson joins Raiders' staff as CBs coach
"I've been thinking about coaching for quite a long time," he told "NFL Total Access." "I was offered a job when I first retired seven years ago, but after spending 17 years in the league, I wasn't ready to do it then. The last couple years, I've been thinking about it, talking to all my guys and friends who are coaching in the league, and I talked to (Raiders owner Al) Davis, and I talked to Hue (Jackson, the team's new head coach), and I was offered the job. "I just didn't want to pass it up. I didn't want to live my life in regret, not having the opportunity -- or at least taking the opportunity to try this thing out. ... So I'm going to give it a shot and see how it works out." Full article: http://www.nfl.com/news/story/09000d...e=HP_headlineshttp://www.nfl.com/news/story/09000d...e=HP_headlines |

Zorn set to join Chiefs
http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com...o-join-chiefs/ Posted by Mike Florio on February 15, 2011, 11:01 AM EST Jim Zorn was fired by the Ravens after the 2010 season. The team that lost at home to the Ravens in the playoffs apparently was impressed with his work. We’re hearing that Zorn will be joining the Kansas City Chiefs. Zorn presumably will fill the currently vacant role of quarterbacks coach, serving as the primary buffer between quarterback Matt Cassel and coach Todd Haley. Whether and to what extent Zorn — or anyone, for that matter — can coexist with Haley remains to be seen. UPDATE: And it’s official. The Chiefs have announced that he’ll be the quarterbacks coach. |

Richard Seymour agrees to new contract with Raiders
http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com...-with-raiders/ Posted by Michael David Smith on February 16, 2011, 11:39 AM EST Richard Seymour is sticking with the Oakland Raiders. Seymour, the defensive tackle whose contract expired at the end of the 2010 season, has agreed to a new contract with the Raiders, according to multiple reports. The terms of the new contract are not yet known. Jim Trotter of SI.com reports that it’s a two-year deal with $22.5 million in guarantees and the potential to make $30 million. But Jason La Canfora of NFL Network reports that it’s a four-year deal. Seymour has said he expects to remain in Oakland and this deal appears to fulfill that expectation. It also means the Raiders won’t need to use the franchise tag to hold onto Seymour. Oakland may now use the franchise tag on tight end Zach Miller. The Raiders acquired Seymour in a trade with the Patriots before the 2009 season. New England reaceived Oakland’s first-round pick (No. 17 overall) in this year’s NFL draft. |
