I don't know if anybody else here watches Community (and its sort of a moot point by now anyways), but Donald Glover would be an absolutely perfect Peter Parker. He can play the dorky, earnest, super-intelligent nerd part wonderfully, and he would be just as fantastic at the wisecracking, sarcastic part.

I would have loved to see him cast in the new Spider-Man remake (not that I have anything against Andrew Garfield). There's nothing essential about the Peter Parker character that depends upon his race-just because he's always been white in the comics doesn't mean that making the character black in a movie would damage him beyond repair, especially for as perfect an actor for the role as Glover.

The sad thing is there isnt much on black superheroes. We did have Blade with Wesley Snipes but, as a non comic book collector, wouldnt the time be right to have one or at least a strong sidekick? We are talking make believe here but I know Sci Fi and comic nerds need everything to be realistic as possible.

Off the top of my head (not counting black versions of Green Lantern, Superman or Captain America, because that's a kinda lame hand me down, imo):

Power man, Blade, Goliath, Storm, War Machine and later became Ironman himself, Deathlok and my two personal favorites Night Thrasher and Bishop. There was another awesome one called Chapel in a comic called Youngblood that I'm probably the only person that ever read.

I'm sure there's hundreds more, but those are the mainstream ones I can remember.

None of those are really elite franchises. Storm and Bishop are important members of the X-Men universe, but neither is much of a stand alone. Some brief runs as solo comics, at least for Storm. Certainly not on the scale of a Wolverine. The only black super hero that comes to mind that has their own long running series along with film franchise is Spawn. Nothing on the level of a Batman, Superman, Spiderman, Wolverine, etc. Those iconic characters are all white. And even with Spawn, most people wouldn't know his race anyway. He's dead/burned/wearing a suit in every comic panel other than flashbacks before his death.

My only point is that of the elite, iconic, world renowned super heroes that transcend pop culture, every single one of them is white. I assume that will change someday, but it hasn't yet. Even non-comic book fans know who Superman, Batman, etc. are. Non-comic book fans probably don't know who any of the people you listed are.
