I just started getting into "harder" alcohol. Was always a total beer guy. Straight beer, nothing else. I actually think I may have developed an allergy to beer. Everytime I drink beer, I start sneezing my head off and my eyes get ready to pop out of my skull. That and I'm 36 now and 10-15 beers during a weekend goes straight to the gut.

I am strictly Capt (the 100 proof bottle) and coke, on the rocks but would love to dabble with other ideas. This is a great thread for me to take notes. Ha

Yeah, PA is weird with that 6/12 pack thing, and I don't think I've seen anything less than a case at the distrubutor for beer.

DE isn't too bad since they started selling on Sundays awhile back. No alcohol in grocery or convenience stores, but at least they sell both in the same store.

MD you can buy beer in most convenience stores and some grocery stores, but you have to buy liquor at a state store.

NC was probably the best for beer since almost every grocery and convenience store I ever went to carried it when I was in school. Liquor's sold in state stores.

VA is pretty much the same. I remember back in college I would buy Steel Reserve 211 from 7-11 because the ABC store closed at 9 and Steel Reserve would help me "get right" before a party. FYI that **** is NASTY, I will not touch that stuff now.

After taking a cruise to Mexico and touring a couple of tequila factories, I've learned a much better appreciation for the agave derived drink. Our tour guide said that there are over 2,000 brands of tequila in Mexico. The difference between good tequila is remarkable. A fantastic "bang for the buck" tequila is from Costco. Their Kirkland branded Anejo is remarkable and deserves to be enjoyed on its own. Obviously, there are better premium tequilas, but you'll likely pay at least $80.00 or more for them.

Someone on an earlier page mentioned Evan Williams. I agree. Don't let the economic pricing make you think that it's more suited for cleaning carburetors.

I'm not a big drinker but in my bar I do have some good stuff. Mostly just for the rare drink or guests. I have some really good Rittenhouse Rye Whiskey that was a gift that I have been sippin on. Really good compared to other Whiskeys I have tried even though I am no expert. It's sort of got this berry aftertaste.

Heh... Evan Williams sure brings back memories. Great stuff for the price, especially since you can get it in the huge bottles. We used to load up half a dozen Evan 1.75 bottles for our annual Sundance pilgramage.... mixes well and does pretty good over the rocks.

Agreed, Steel Reserve is awful. It made it into our 40 club rotation once. Once!

But you haven't really experienced nastiness until you've had National Bohemian Ice and/or Mad Dog Buck Bunny...
