We had to give him something, or he goes somewhere else for free next year. Now if someone wants him its going to cost.

I'm happy they signed him to another year.

My fear is that he will not be there after 2 season if we don't reach playoffs.

If he thinks Tebow require that much time, he should have gone after QB's like Mcnabb.
Let me get this straight....

Once the decision was made that Cutler would be traded, McD targeted Orton along with the draft picks, Orton was the starter last year, will remain the starter this year and there's a better than even chance that he will be the starter next year.....And McD is confused?

Riiiiiiiiiight.

AND he hasn't been healthy pretty much since he's been a Bronco....it might be interesting to see what he can do healthy.

When did Orton play full 16 games without an injury.?
He always gets injured . His game drastically diminishes once he gets injured.
You don't pay 9mil to a QB that doesn't play full season.

I believed Mcd knows QB skills very well.
I though he can develop Bradstater/Quinn.
He cut Bradstater(in mane, they compared him to Brady) and Quinn will be cut next season.

Orton got extension as his other choices are horrible.
We should have gone after Mcnabb or a QB that doesn't require 2 years to start a NFL game.

This is great news for the Broncos. It covers all the bases for us
. Frankly I am surprised Orton would sign a one year deal but it speaks to him having the belief that one more year with Josh and he will be sure to land a huge deal somewhere. Damn good move by the Broncos. I like this regime more and more as time goes by and I liked them a lot from the get go.

Good news. Seems pretty obvious McD will take his time with Tebow, giving him the reigns in 2012

Good point. Orton could have said FU, I'm going to have a career year and get paid in the offseason.

He is always hurt(except in his rookie season).
He gets injured easily and panics when rush comes.

I don't trust him based on the history.

I love it. He's something of a known qauntity who is, by all accounts, becoming a much better player in year two of this offense. Tebow, regardless of what he may become, is an unknown quantity at this time, much more popular in People Magazine than he is in Football Weekly. Tebow may be great, but no one knows for sure. Orton is good bordering on very good now.

A one year extension is perfectly reasonable. This gives Tebow a little more time to get ready with some insurance. I wanted to avoid a long term commitment to Orton and I'm glad they avoided that (for now). Good move.

Prediction is hard. Especially about the future.

But that's not a reason never to do anything. Just means McDaniels and Xanders have hard jobs.

This.

It preserves him through the Tebow development, and should he not develop or in the unlikely event Orton explodes and is awesome, we are covered both ways.

Oh and Bowlen's still broke.

Yeah, only person hurt by this is Quinn, and Quinn is really really hurt - the two years left on his contract will be completely eclipsed by this contract, barring injury, it's game over on the dream of being a starting NFL quarterback next year.

Should have been a two year extension. Minimum.

Good move for us, gives Tebow time to develop and Kyle should play well this year with our WR corps.

Hopefully the o-line plays well, pretty happy with what I've seen so far from him.

I don't think Quinn is really hurt that much. Did anyone actually think he would start for us in the future? His best hope is that Orton gets hurt so he gets a chance to play, and plays well. Then he can possibly get traded to be a starter somewhere.
