As far as the battery goes... did you cycle it a few times when you first got it? Another couple of tips... I turn off EVERYTHING when I'm not using it. Disable background data, turn off 3g wireless gps location and only sync my email once every three hours. Set my screen to about half brightness and 30 second timeout ....I'm gettin a full day with pretty heavy usage. You might ALSO want to go in and manually shut down some apps...or get a task killer. Obviously if your near a charger its all good, but those are some of the things that have helped me. This phone is pretty effing amazing |

Okay, my Treo 750 is falling apart. Time to finally pony up and get a new phone.
I like touch screen phones, but have always hated touch screen key pads. I really like having buttons, but I'm thinking that these new phones look so great that I'm going to have to just get used to the touch screen key pad. So I first looked at the iPhone, which looked really impressive, plus I use a Mac. But AT&T is really expensive. I'm on Sprint, and comparing packages it looks like I'd pay a good $30 more for every similar package. Just to use the iPhone properly it looks like the bill would be a good $100 a month. I'm only paying $50 a month right now on Sprint. That's without internet. With internet would cost $70. Since I'm on Sprint already and the monthly bill is much lower, I think I'm going to get the Evo. Phone looks awesome. |

I must admit I was an Iphone hater. My wife had one and I couldn't stand using the phone. I finally took the plunge after I had a falling out with sprint...
The Iphone really is a great phone. The email function alone for work is one of the easiest to use. I tried a blackberry but not being able to edit emails before you forward them on was a huge deal breaker. After all the hype etc. the Iphone is a pretty good phone (just make sure you get a case)! My brother has the EVO and its not to shabby but his battery life is pretty bad, that means its really bad coming from an Iphone user. |

But, I'm going to wait until January when my contract is up to get an ip4. I'm hoping they iron out the antenna issue by then. |

Iphone 4. I want an Iphone 4. Have you guys seen this video? Iphone 4 vs Evo? I work for AT&T, and I own an Iphone 4 and even I find this f'ing hilarious!

Thanks for starting this thread. My previous two-year agreement with Sprint is up come November and I have to decide what I'm going to do with a phone. I've been pretty stoked with my friends Droid X, but Sprint has always been good to me with customer service or anything I ever needed from them.
I am on my second Samsung Instinct, which was one of their first 3G phones they had. My first one was chewed up by a baby huskie. It's still an awesome phone, but doesn't have all the perks the new phone has. Hearing the thing about the battery sucks. My Instinct needed about one full charge a day to work, but I was able to save and hoard four batteries for it after replacing it the first time. If you could let me know about how the camera works and takes pictures, that'd be awesome as well. |

The camera is fantastic. Takes great pictures, especially in good lighting. Dark pictures it struggles with a little, but they are still better than any other camera phone I've ever seen or used, and the HD video is out of this world. Plus it looks great when you hook it up to your TV with the HDMI out. If you are happy with Sprint's service, I'd highly reccomend the Evo. I absolutely love mine. |

ditto. WELL, when i HAD the evo, ditto. i effed the speaker up (long story short i was exchanging some pics with this girl, and i dropped the phone into the sink with a bit of water in it....survived, EXCEPT her next pic came through before i could shut it off and the speaker blew), and will be getting it back from BB later today!!!
Funng thing is, the loaner phone they gave me is a samsung instinct hd, and i absolutely HATE IT. battery life, pics, browser, screen sensitivity... theyre all sub par imo. if thats what you're upgrading from, req, you are going to LOVE the evo. i've felt pretty naked for the last month without it |

That's the newer version of the Instinct, I have the archaic model. So yeah, I'll probably feel light years ahead in November when I choose to upgrade.

For any of you still on the fence about this phone...
I just picked my repaired Evo up from the BB a Arapahoe and University, and was talking with the mobile department. They informed me that Robert Ayers AND Bay Bay are evo users/lovers...and had recently been in the store along with Sir Timothy (who consequently didn't buy a phone at the time) So basically, if you DON'T buy this phone, you're pretty much a raider fan. Throwin that out there ![]() |

I have Sprint 4G already and it sucks in the area I'm in so it's almost always stuck in 3G mode, and a nice little surprise buried in the fine print of their broadband contract specifies that if you're using more than 5 Gigs a month of 3G data that the "4G unlimited" plan now costs you $$ for every byte thereafter...the first month the bill was an extra $68 for my "flat rate" unlimited plan...no they wouldn't let us use the 30 day cancelation option (who knew before that?) without defaulting the contract, etc...anyway buyer beware on Sprint's service IMO but the phone does look interesting if it actually works like they'll claim.

One more quick note, it looks like Sprint just pushed Android 2.2 Froyo to all the Evo devices. I just finished downloading it and haven't had a chance to play around with it yet, but there's another plus.

Hey guys, just wanted to bump this thread and find out what you Evo users think of them after a few months. Also, for anyone who has Sprint in CO, how's the coverage?
TIA |

Still love it. I've actually been realy pleasantly surprised with Sprint too. I'd heard a lot of horror stories, but I've hd no issues so far. I love that they still have the most affordable unlmited pan and I get fast 3G coverage in places that my friends with AT&T don't, and even Verizon. I guess it probably also depends on where you live. AND 4G is supposed to be here in NYC in the next couple of weeks, so looking forward to that. I def would reccomend the Evo if you are in the market.

Yeah, they just turned on 4G here in Denver, I haven't had any complaints with my EVO at all!
