As for the Schneider Aventinus, I have both in the beer fridge right now! I think the Eisbock is a top 5 beer for me, and the aventinus is a nice beer. I like the Weihanstefaner Korbinian a little better though for the style. Currently enjoying a Bell's Two Hearted IPA, my favorite non limited IPA in the US. |

The best 2 I have had have been Three Floyds Behemoth and Shipyards Pugbley Sig series. I have not tried anything from southern tier nor seen it locally. I have never had an Imperial Hefeweizen! So, I looked it up on BA and it looks like something I need to make a trade to get! I have pretty much had almost every German offering of Hefe and Dunkelweizen, and that is my absolute favorite style. The american wheat beers are so inconsistent to the style. Very few taste like the German offerings. Sierra Nevada comes close, but The only other one is Three Floyds Drunk Monk and its not bottled unfortunately.... |

Rocking the Avery IPA tonight.
Had a Norwegian beer called "O" last night from Nogne. It is was very malty IPA with a hint of cirtus. Very different, it wasn't bad but wasn't great. Pours very orangery yellow. I understand that Nogene makes some great stouts, so I will keep my eyes out for them. |

This past weekend learned about a new brewery in Denver... located right by Mile High Lite - Strange Brewery. Sampled them at the Old South Pearl Street Blues and Brews fest. They only had the Pale Ale and the IPA on tap, both decent, not extremely refined, but good hop and malt flavor to both. Just think its great to have a brewery only a few blocks away from our Broncos!

Had a very good time @ the Indiana MicroBrewers festival last weekend. Had some incredible offerings.
1. Three floyds Dark Lord: This is what a RIS should taste like! This was the perfect balance of flavors for me. Hands down the best Stout I have ever tasted. 2. North Coast Old Rasputin Imperial Stout (nitro): WOW! The nitro made this taste even smoother than the regular Draft I have had. Not in the same league as the Dark Lord, but definitely pushing for advancement. 3. Boulder Planet Porter (Nitro): Man this was an incredible Porter. Nitro makes a tremendous difference in mouthfeel smoothness here. This is a very good beer to begin with, again having it Nitro tapped just makes it even better. 4. Boulder Mojo IPA (Nitro): Not a Hophead guy and generally not an IPA lover. However, the smoothness of the NITRO made this beer a lot more balanced and smooth. The taste was even a lot more balanced than the bottles of this I had tried before. 5. Stone Sublimely Self-Righteous (bottle): Nice offering from stone. A lot more bite than I like, but great taste nonetheless. 6. Bee Creek Hoosier Honey Wheat (Bottle): I am a big fan of wheat beers in general, and this offering was really smooth and a little sweet from the honey. This was my favorite wheat beer offering. 7. Three Floyds Gorch Fock Helles (tap): This was one of the only non doppelbock lagers I have every really enjoyed. This was very refreshing and more like a wheat beer in flavor than most lagers. 8. Bells Bourbon Barrel Hell Hath No Fury Belgian Dark Ale (Tap): This was just incredible. This is a new offering from Bells and it was a lot better than some of the actual Belgian Trappist Ales I have had. It was better than Chimay Blue, of Which is one of my favorite beers. It was Better than Rochefort 10 by far IMHO. This is one of only 2 beers I had a second tasting! 9. Bell's Poolside Cherry Wheat (Tap): This was a very nice wheat addition to Bell's strong Lineup. I Have not liked a lot of their Ale's in the past outside of their Stout's and Porter. However, this was much better than any of their other ale's to date. 10. Dogfish Head Midas Touch Golden Elixir (Bottle): Really like this brewery, and this just upped the ante. Never had an average beer from Dogfish, but this took the crown From Their 120 Minute IPA. This was just a great beer. 11. Founders Cerise (Tap): Very nice Fruit beer. I like the sweeter style beers so this was a real treat. Would definitely buy a 4 pack of this. |

I've really gotten into more beer in the last year, was never much of a beer guy in the past. |

Just opened Heavy Seas - Letter Of Marque 2010 (Rye Porter). Very usually porter because the rye really breaks through on the taste. Pours dark with tan head, and looks like a porter but really drinks like hopped imperial ipa. It worth picking one up and trying for different experience.

Their Smoked porter and Sublimely-self Righteous are also much better than AB. I still need to get a bottle of their Russian Imperial Stout. Speaking of Stout's, I am going to get the chance to homebrew A RIS with a friend who has made his own beer for years. He just moved closer to INDY from Florida and has a really sophisticated homebrew setup. So, I am trying to learn about Homebrewing the next few days. I can not wait to make that RIS and then a Hefeweizen! |

Chocolate Oak Aged Yeti from Great Divide Brewing - AWESOME. Pours black as midnight and the head is dark rich brown. You get the chocolate right off the top when you sip it and finishes extremely smooth. I don't get the hint of oak that I expected because the chocolate really does overpower it. But a great stout.
BTW it does have high ACL which is hidden by the chocolate |

I just picked up a great ESB from Bridgeport Brewing Company out of Oregon. It's the first American brewed ESB I've had and I will make sure I get it again. |

Edit - Just found out that they use cayenne pepper in brew which explains the bite at the end. |

Their porter is to die for, I only know one place that has it on tap. Two hours east of here. The Russian Imperial is great, if you need a bottle let me know. |

Having a Mad River Steelhead Scotch Porter. Not all that impressed, unfortunately. Looks good, smells good, tastes dead average. Not the ideal combo
![]() Had some amazingly good Doppelbocks recently though. EKU 28 was a dream beer for me. Got it for a $1 a bottle on sale and went back and cleaned them out. Very high ABV (11%), but a great nightcap beer. Extremely complex and very tasty. Weihenstephaner Korbinian was much better than I had anticipated. Very smooth and had a terrific malt characteristic to it. Weihenstephan is slowly becoming my favorite brewery. Never had anything from them that was below very good. The Paulaner Salvator is still my favorite Doppelbock though. It beats the more highly touted Ayinger Celebrator. However, I am still not sure if the batch I had of Celebrator was not bad. I will have to get another of those to try. |

Alright, new 1/2 barrel for the kegerator!
#1 was New Belgium 1554 #2 was Sun Up Horizon Hefeweizen (brewery out of Phoenix...got a ridiculously good price on it) And #3...........Bell's Kalamazoo Stout ![]() Black as night. Has a very long-lasting aftertaste. To me, chocolate is the most noticeable flavor. Fantastic! http://beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/287/1117 |

5 weeks later, it is time for keg #4! This time, I decided to go with:
![]() Leinenkugel's Sunset Wheat I've always liked this beer. To me, it tastes like there is anise in it. Don't know if that's one of the ingredients, but I always taste it! |

I'm a wheat fan, but love porters.
Sunshine from New Belguim is prefered over Blue Moon, just never fruit the beer. Guiness is always a treat, but the best beer I ever had was a one-off batch of vanilla porter at Breck Brewery (in Breck). I had more than my fill for the two weeks before they were out. Oatmeal porter from there or other microbreweries are also good. When funds are short or going for quantity, the only thing better than Keystone Ice is Mickeys malt liquor. |
