So here I am enjoying a afternoon glass of Grand Marnier and surfing the internet and it got me thinking. What are some other good liquor, liqueurs, cordials or whatever that can be sipped on, "neat or "on the rocks"?

I tend to go with Crown Royal when I drink whiskey. Never had Makers Mark. Might try it.

Any single malt scotch works fine. Also try Don Julio 1942 tequila.... just plain wow.

Brandy-neat. My usual is E&J VSOP, cheaper but a good VSOP ($24 for 1.5L). I'll spurge on a pear brandy every once in a while at $50-$75 for 750mL.

I am a Jack Daniel's drinker. On the rocks! Don't ruin that drink by putting coke in it.
I'd say that I drink Jack 80% of the time. When I'm in an Irish pub I drink Jameson on the rocks. I also like Makers Mark and Crown Royal. If there is no Jack and those two are there they will more than do. I'm not much of a scotch drinker. Nothing against it, just not my thing. Gins, Bombay Saphire is awesome. I like Beefeater too. I've never been a Tanqueray drinker. I'm not feeling that one as much. Rum, my favorite is Zaya. Hard to find. Stuff is really good. Meyers and Captin Morgan are good. Bacardi is cheap ****. That's for when you're having a party and you just need cheap rum for mixed drinks. Not much of a vodka drinker and I don't like tequila. Oh, never buy a woman a drink at a bar. I stopped that when I noticed women ordering Patron. That's like lobster on the first date. So chicks buy your own drink. ![]() |

Another two places I know for sure are BevMo and Total Wines and More, but I don't know if you have those (they're basically beer/wine/liquor superstores). |

A triple of Patron, straight on the rocks.
Beam and Coke. Jack, straight but chilled. Bombay Sapphire and schweppes tonic water. Grey Goose and ice, with a touch of apple liqueur and vermouth, shaken and strained. |

I should buy the 12-year old more, but it's $15 or 20 more than the green label, so I always compromise at the store.
I like Bourbon too - Jack, Beam, Maker's Mark. But most of all a cheaper brand, Evan Williams. The Black Label. You'd be surprised: The're more than 100 years older than Jack Daniels .... Jack patterned itself after them. |
