I've been listening to John Mayall's the turning point all day and night.
Here is my favorite song from the album, California. Great sax work, Mayall at his best at the Fillmore East. |

If there was one band out there who I wish would release a B Side compilation, it's the Fanclub. Anyways, a new album finally comes out in June and since the band has an unbelievable high standard, it should be a classic. |

They were very much part of that late-80s Stone Roses scene, but they are better. Start with Daddy's Highway (which the song I posted, North By North, is on). Awesome record. Although most of their early albums are out of print (they still put out new material), so you may have to dig a bit.

Went to see Thom Yorke with his solo band (featuring RHCP bassist Flea) at the Aragon in Chicago tonight. Pretty bad ass. All those sparse songs on The Eraser that were just Thom and few simple computer beats have been completely fleshed out with five piece rhythm and guitar. Ballads turned into thunderous rock songs. And, or course, it was fun to watch Thom and Flea battle it out for most insane dance moves.

I think the band will be staying together... dunno if some personnel changes may happen down the line. Change sometimes does happen; in fact they have a different bassist and drummer for Moonshine Valentine than the ones who played on Too Much To Dream. The CD release has been the culmination of nearly 4 years of hard work for Sixstringlass though... she wrote all but one of the songs on the CD; and their drummer wrote one.

![]() What's the big deal you ask? Well, this was some Italian prog rock outfit that made horror film music for cheesy flicks.....this was done in 1969 and that's where the real story lies....talk about being ahead of your time, sheesh. Last edited by Hogan11; 04-14-2010 at 04:43 PM.. |

I have an old Rollings band CD end of silence.
Love most of the tracks on it, I play it from time to time. |

I've met him a few times. He's a hard person to hang out with because he's a loner who generally doesn't care for the company of other people and he frowns upon drinking. I have a couple of pics with him, but we never interacted all that much and are certainly not on a first name basis or anything like that. I'm still a huge fan though and keep buying all his cd's/books and what have you. I try not to post the same vids over and over, so going through the thread to see if I posted that before was a bit of a challenge and a half.....ever start from the beginning and try to work your way through it? It's something else. |

Regardless on how you fall musically, at least this thread is somewhat informative and horizon expanding. I know I've been turned onto stuff from this thread that I never heard of before and we can't be the only ones to have that happen after browsing it. The Band in the "Fool" clip reformed and toured with X in 2006, but he felt there wasn't a total commitment from the players to keep it going and became disillusioned by the whole "reunion tour" thing about halfway through it (Incidently, I seen them on this tour and thought they were just fine, but whatever). He's vowed to never do music again, save for guest appearances on other artists work. He's totally a spoken word guy now with movies and TV mixed in here and there. |
