This letter was read on Sirius NFL network. It was written by the owners of the Florida Panthers Hockey Franchise to all season ticket holders and fans. How cool would it be to get a letter like this from Bowlen and the coaching staff?
A Letter From The OwnersFriday, 02.12.2010 / 10:10 AM / News Florida PanthersDear Fans, Based on our commitment to accessibility, we would like to take this opportunity to give you some insight into our hockey club’s strategy moving forward. After consulting with General Manager Randy Sexton and Head Coach Pete DeBoer, it is clear that our team, the way it is currently structured, is not equipped to meet the goals and objectives that we have set for ourselves, our fans and our partners. Those goals are simple: qualify for the postseason on an annual basis, maintain a level of sustainable success, put a product on the ice that we can all be proud of, and compete for a Stanley Cup sometime in the near future. Our discussions with our hockey operations department about the composition and the strength and weaknesses of this Florida Panthers team have been extensive and ongoing, and based on those discussions and the inability to meet our goals, it is obvious that significant change is required. Thus, GM Randy Sexton has begun the process of reshaping this team in order to achieve our goals and objectives. This is a multi-step process, beginning now, ahead of the trading deadline, and continuing through the draft, free agency and training camp – so we ask that you assess our success only once this process has run its course. Unfortunately, these changes will not always be easy for our fans and supporters to accept or understand. These changes also may not be easy for our coaches, players and staff. But they are necessary. No small changes or quick fixes will do. But please note that these changes are part of an overall plan to make the best use of our current assets and set this franchise up to achieve the success we want as quickly as possible, and to maintain it. Clearly, we are not satisfied with some of the players on this team that do not possess the characteristics we need to be successful. We must be accountable for that. Our task moving forward is to acquire players with the attributes, skills and qualities we want in a Panthers player. We must admit the significant shortcomings we have as an organization, and we must move quickly and efficiently to overcome these shortcomings and reshape this franchise on a much more solid foundation. As passionate fans and supporters of the Florida Panthers, this is what you deserve, and nothing else will do. Thank you for the emotion, the dedication and the loyalty that you have shown to your Panthers and please know, that as Managing Partners of this franchise, we are working hard to provide you with a hockey team you can be proud to call your own. nothing but rhetoric this is my favorite part:
"Clearly, we are not satisfied with some of the players on this team that do not possess the characteristics we need to be successful. We must be accountable for that. Our task moving forward is to acquire players with the attributes, skills and qualities we want in a Panthers player." I wish I had a job where being accountable means firing everyone else but myself. Last edited by Atwater His Ass; 02-13-2010 at 10:18 PM.. |

Speaking of The Devil, I just got this letter today in the mail from Pat Bowlen:
Dear Season Ticket Holder: As we conclude the 50th season in Denver Broncos history, I have an overwhelming sense of optimism for the next set of challenges facing our franchise. The re-establishment of a winning attitude on the field has permeated the entire culture of the Denver Broncos and solidified our resolve to compete and serve at the highest levels throughout every facet of our organization. The work ethic of our football teams and coaching staff has provided a blueprint for success on the field. Dedication to preparation and passion for victory have invigorated our entire franchise, positioning us for a successful 2010 season. Our future must rely on that work ethic to attain the ultimate goal of another World Championship. To you, our incredibly faithful fan base, I pledge our commitment to that endeavor. I look forward to having you join us for the 2010 season as we face the competitive challenges that every NFL season brings. Historically, our season ticket base provides the nucleus of fans that invigorates our players, demands quality from our football operation and earns the respect of our entire staff and league rivals. As always, thank you for the continued tradition of providing a true home field advantage for this original AFL franchise. I look forward to embarking on another memorable fifty seasons of Broncos football with you next year. Sincerely, Pat Bowlen President and CEO |

Pat, I don't want optimism for the challenges ahead. I don't want a blueprint for success. I, as a fan of the Denver Broncos, want ACTUAL on the field success. End the damn pity party that you began sending invites to when Jay left the building and lets do this already. Sell the team if you have to but please don't let it affect the team salary. I know it is common for owners to dump payroll before a sale, but the Alphonso Smith move was way too obvious. Please, no more of that.
