Default E. E. Cummings - Why do I know this guy's name??

I was trying to remember the name of the author of Charlotte's Web, and initially the name "E. E. Cummings" popped into my head. After I looked online and found out that it was E. B. White, I started to wonder, "What the heck did E. E. Cummings write, then?"

I went to his Wikipedia page. I Googled his name and looked at about 5 other websites. None of the books, stories, or plays that he wrote sounded familiar to me. I do not read books or poetry in my free time, so I must have heard his name through school or something. But I really have no idea why I know this man's name!

So what are some of his most famous works? There's gotta be a reason I know the name "E. E. Cummings"!

The only reason I know him is because one of my favorite authors is F. Scott Fitzgerald and in American Lit back in college I saw a quote praising him. Thats my only memory.

Apparently this is disputed and may not be true as many believe (as I read during my "research").

I am not a big poetry fan per se, but this is the one I recall from school (and the lower case thing with his name may be based on the way he wrote in lower case, not sure though)

i carry your heart with me by E. E. Cummings
i carry your heart with me(i carry it in
my heart)i am never without it(anywhere
i go you go,my dear; and whatever is done
by only me is your doing,my darling)
i fear
no fate(for you are my fate,my sweet)i want
no world(for beautiful you are my world,my true)
and it's you are whatever a moon has always meant
and whatever a sun will always sing is you

here is the deepest secret nobody knows
(here is the root of the root and the bud of the bud
and the sky of the sky of a tree called life;which grows
higher than the soul can hope or mind can hide)
and this is the wonder that's keeping the stars apart

i carry your heart(i carry it in my heart)

Wasn't he mentioned in a song - 311, I believe - that was popular a while back.
