Default Capture DVD Scenes

Hi guys and gals. Need some help and hoping someone on the board will know how to do this and share.

I need to capture a few seconds worth of video from one of my DVD movies. Basically, I want only a small scene from one of my movies but I don't know how to capture it off the DVD as it plays on the PC and to save that file as .avi, .mpg, .wmv, or whatever. Any ideas? (Since I only want a small bit and am not looking to do this probably more than this once, I'd hope there's some Shareware out there which is either totally free or with limited application...such as a few seconds/minutes worth of capture or register for full product. I've tried FRAPS and it looks like it's going to work but all I get is the audio and the video portion just sticks on two frames of the movie and jitters rapidly between them. I never get the full video capture. Audio is perfect, however.)

DVD decrypter will decrypt and save a copy of the movie on your hard drive. Once the DVD is on the hard drive you should be able to use normal video editing software. However, thats a lot of work for a few seconds of video.

Lev, that did it! Thanks!! I was able to rip it to the harddrive, find the .vob file section I needed, and then drop that into my Sony Vegas program and edit to the 30 sec clip I needed. Didn't take too long, either. About 15 minutes!

Great. I'm glad it worked.
