Saw Sunny Day Real Estate last night
![]() All of the original members including Nate Mendel and Will were with the band. They played for about an hour and a half. Very good. They were tight, and they played all of my favorites from Diary and LP2. They are still extremely unique in the landscape of rock, and its a shame that they have been lumped into the emo category as the progenitors of the genre, because they are more like progressive punk than anything else. They are as good now as they were in 1994. Go see 'em. |

Glad you liked it....they should get more recognition than they do, but you know how that goes. It was a great show, as always. A very varied set, many different styles from guitar feedback freakouts to almost dance pop and everything in between. Been waiting to see if any footage gets posted on You Tube of it.
Loved the Miles BTW...not many Jazz fans around these parts ![]() |

I may get laughed out of this thread, but my wife left an Allison Krauss & Union Station CD in the car last night. I had a long drive this morning and left it in the player. Never been a huge country fan, especially bluegrass, but man...that's some good stuff. She might have the best female voice I've ever heard ...and the musicianship of that band is impressive. Especially the dude that plays steel guitar or dobro or whatever that is.

For sure..I found out who was playing the dobro on the album..Jerry Douglas, you musicians know who he is I'm sure. I'm glad I found out, I'm a fan now. About 3 minutes in he kicks it up.

I love Lee Ritenour. The biggest music aholes in the world are jazz purists. Just mention the name "Ritenour" to them and they go apoplectic. It's fun.
