I bet you're right... I either confused what I heard or the radio reported it wrong. I do know that there is an Army National Guard Unit at Buckley and they fly choppers, whether they are 60's or not I don't know.

Best case scenario if he was in the "aircraft" when it launched.

What I dont get is if this thing was full of helium that would seem to indicate it was ready for flight so

A) how did the kid get unsupervised access
B) How does a 6 year old hold this thing down while undoing the ropes holding it down.

Could be...

A.) Father went inside to take a crap and told the kid not to touch anything.

B.) Brothers dared him to get in the box and they cut the rope tying down the balloon.

Update at 4:57 p.m. ET: Officials now say they believe the boy might not have ascended with the balloon and is hiding near his home.

"At this point, we are thinking that he did not fall out of the balloon and is somewhere on the ground," said Larimer County Sheriff's Office spokeswoman Eloise Campanella. "The basket itself was not breached. It does not look like he fell out of it, but again, this is all conjecture."

"I'm very confident we will find him. I think it's a matter of him being a little scared," she said. "Maybe he's not ready to be found."

They're now saying the basket was attached when it crashed, according to KOA, and that USAToday entry says it wasn't breached.

The boy was wearing a blue shirt and blue jeans, according to a dispatcher's description.

Bob Licko, 65, a neighbor, said he was leaving home when he heard commotion in the backyard.

He said he saw two boys on the roof with a camera, commenting about their brother.

"One of the boys yelled to me that his brother was way up in the air," Licko said.

Licko said the boys' mother seemed distraught and that the boys' father was running around the house.

I saw it too but I've heard two different sources say the box was inside the craft and did not detach.

When they ripped it apart, it was one big piece, he would have suffocated breathing helium....
