Mizzou looked scary good.... and KU looks pretty decent too. I see it as a three way race in the Big12 North and all three are top 20 teams IMO.

Mizzou came back to earth this week. I still see them as a legit threat in the North, but I think we got a truer picture this week that they have plenty of inexperience to overcome.
Two weeks in and it already looks like a decisive line has been drawn in the North between "flawed but talented and dangerous" (Mizz, NU, KU) and "don't bet too much money on them covering against a I-AA team" (KSU, CU, ISU). |

Man, I am jacked for the game tomorrow... butterflies already... you'd think I was going to play or something.
![]() The keys IMO will be slowing down the Tech running game and limiting their special team advantages ... I think NU can and will score some points. Prediction NU 27 Tech 21 |

Went back and looked at the box scores and recap from last years game. Really odd game. VT up 9-0 before you could blink, they scored on six straight possessions at one point, almost comeback by NU derailed by two unsportsmanlike conduct penalties (one on Bo, who I have to say has toned it down considerably since this game).
I feel good about the team we bring in as a whole. The passing offense is further along than I could have hoped. Running game needs to show it can be consistent, and run defense (oh those young LBs) are going to get tested big time. Blacksburg is as intimidating a road location as you can find (they have some insane home record over the last decade). All that to say, should be another nail biter. Based on experience/home factor, I should probably give the edge to VT, but it just so happens the glasses I'm wearing right now are tinted red. 24-20. |

okay, it's been long enough that I've calmed down enough to be somewhat coherent.
It seems we're good for at least one completely gutting loss a year. Usually comes against Texas Tech or Texas. This one, for me, is worse than any of those were. I might seriously consider trading the Stokely miracle if it meant our safety not completely blowing their coverage in the last minute. Or Suh inexplicably waiting to rush on Tyrod on the TD play. Or the offense not committing 5 penalties that turn a 1st and goal on the 2 into a punt. Or...argh. Just a terrible ****ing loss. If we do one of a dozen little mistakes differently we're talking about what a big step our defense took. About how Lee, despite being off on several passes, looked like a dangerous QB, especially when scrambling. About Henery showing why he's one of the top kickers in the nation. About how Helu is probably the best running back at this school since Ahman Green. Congrats, Garcia. Your team knows how to deliver down the stretch. Nothing but respect for Beamer and his program. Go beat Miami, and hopefully we can rebound and have a strong conference showing of our own. |

The TD pass was unreal. Either team could have won. That was a mind blower. My hear was beating through my chest.
He did look like a great QB. He can run his offense. There was all kinds of mis-direction. Suh was incredible as well. |

Congrats Garcia. Tech is a quality team and they and their fans are as classy as they come. |

You play to win the game. 17 yards? Bo needs to understand that you put the ball in either the RBs hands that has over 180 rushing or a QB keeper and try and run out the clock. I have never seen a first and goal end up a punt either, but I'm not going to talk about that.

This was a heart breaking loss. I thought we outplayed them the entire time. We beat ourselves at the end. VT showed us that this team still has some stuff to work on, mostly on offense. This was Lee's first big game though so hopefully he looks better against some of the other good teams we face this year.
The defense played well until the last drive. The offense needs to learn how to score a TD against a good defense or we may be in trouble. |

No clue. Complete joke to be six spots below a team that got rocked in the same game we almost won. Their "impressive" win looks kinda weak now in light of FSU getting shut down by South Florida. Hopefully OU can smack them down next week and put an end to the media's reborn love affair with "the U."
I'm not worried about the polls right now, though. We win the games on our schedule and things will fall into place. Honestly, even if I am a bit biased, I think we're better than a lot of the teams above us. Not a single team (except maybe the top 3) that I don't think we could beat. Others have pointed it out and I agree: there seem to be no great teams this year. If Nebraska had held on at VT we'd be a legit top 10. We might have the best defense in the Big XII. Our offense will only get better. Obviously we've gotta prove it, starting in a couple weeks with the huge showdown in Columbia against a dangerous looking MU offense. |

Kinda cool segment that ABC national news ran about the sellout streak: http://abcnews.go.com/video/playerIndex?id=8707247
Any thoughts on this coming Thursday night matchup in Columbia? Road game against a talented offense (Gabbert is the real deal) is always dangerous, but I can't shake the sense that we might just clobber them. 3 point favorites right now, I see us winning by 10 or 20. Should be fun either way. |

What a huge game.... I want this game more than any other NU game all year.... it's time for payback.
They will score some points on us, Gabbert is very good, but I don't think they can stop NUs offense. I am thinking 31-21 sounds about right. |

This and KU are the key. Probably want this one more too since they've embarrassed us the last couple times. Plus they have significantly trashier fans.
