![]() I've been through so much stereo equipment over the years I couldn't even begin to say...I never owned too much Pioneer, I was more of a Kenwood guy I guess.
The system now is a total hodgepodge..Kenwood, Technics, TEAC, Onkyo and Sony. Been that way now for awhile and for being just a home system, it works for me. Last edited by Hogan11; 09-01-2009 at 08:11 PM.. |

![]() ![]() I've been using this old Mac since 1979. I have a non-working Denon L-60 (I think) turntable upstairs that needs to be rehabilitated. |

Kenwood Audio/video receiver KR-V6040 TEAC CD Recorder CD-RW880 SONY Compact disc player CDP-C425 Onkyo Dual Cassette deck TA-RW244/144 TEAC Equalizer EQA-120 Technics Automatic turntable SL-BD20D Other than the CD Recorder, it's your typical early 90's thing (which was the last time I revamped it). |

![]() I cant quit listening to Sun Kil Moon. Its "Ghosts of the Great Highway" right now.
I'm convinced that "Salvador Sanchez" is the best song ever written about the convergence of boxing, cult of personality, and death. Great handling of a rare subject. Beautiful. Maybe even the best song about sport that I have ever heard. Salvador Sanchez http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jW3_8Q45xM8 "Salvador Sanchez Arrived and vanished Only 23 with so much speed Owning the highway Mexico City bred so many but none quite like him Sweet Warrior, Pure Magic Matador Pancho Villa Would never rest 'Til 1925 he closed his eyes Until Manilla stars would rise Gozo of the Philipines The choirs of angels sing Ukelele strings play for his legend ![]() Benny "the Kid" Paret Came a good way Climing grey sky to raise his hands Snuffed by the better man. Eyes of Los Rios cry for sons Lost on distant shores unforseen wars struck and delivered them How have they gone? Fell by leather So alone but theyre bound together." ![]() Women with their head's on the wall like trophies...what a misogynist video!!!
Seriously though, pre-hippy dippy Animals was some great, great stuff. Like The Rascals and others in the 60's, as ambitions soared, quality seemingly suffered. It was tragic really....I mean, there's quite a difference between this greatness and unlistenable tripe like "San Franciscan Nights" & "Sky Pilot". |

Some bands adapted to it just fine (Beatles) some tried then abandoned it totally after one album (Rolling Stones) and others just got crushed by it all (Animals, Rascals). When it comes to The Animals, one should get the two indespensible compilations that are available (The Complete Animals & Animalisms for the later stuff before the fall) and avoid everything else just out of respect for the band's legacy. That's how I see it anyways. |

Not exactly the critics' choice, but I really like the soundtrack. Many of the tunes have the same raw edge as early Animals stuff. |

![]() I'm really into this King Khan guy at the moment...great punk/garage/soul stuff....dig this track with the into by Jello Biafra of the Dead Kennedys doin' Ghost Rider.
If he comes anywhere near my area, I'm making the trip...it has this weird Cheech & Chong type vibe to it all. Last edited by Hogan11; 09-08-2009 at 12:31 AM.. |

![]() The All-Girl Boys Choir (1/2 of the late, great Gore Gore Girls)
a much more bluesy direction than the GGG's whilst still keepin' the noise. Pretty cool stuff IMHO |

![]() ![]() Yo La Tengo - Popular Songs Beautiful highbrow dreampop at times, thoughtful shoegazing at others....IOW, the usual top notch release from one of alternative music's longest running and most consistant groups. Gonna catch them in Cleveland on the 5th of next month, always a great show. |
