Default Little known GREAT movies

I have over 2,000 movies in my collection and now there is nothing I want. I'm hoping some people know of some real gems of movies that might be overlooked.

Here is my list of movies you need to watch but probably haven't.

The New York Ripper
Freeway
Hard Candy
Bubba Ho-Tep
The Experiment
Fido
Pink Flamingos
Filthy World
SLC Punk
Zero Day
The Boys From Brazil

Here are movies you should have seen but if you didn't you need to watch them

Blazzing Saddles
Robo Cop
Hotel Rwanda
Schindler's list
Jerimiah Johnson

I'd love some people to state their favorite never heard of films.

I have the Boys from Brazil on the DVR. I'm glad you think it's a good movie. I'm eager to sit down and watch it...

Mrs. Bean would likely divorce me if a movie with that title arrived in my next Netflix pouch.

It's pretty awesome. It's about mass producing Adolf Hitler.

2000 movies? Wow and I thought I was super cool with 400 movies..damn...well this is a cool thread, I love getting personal recommends and now I have Netflix so I will add the ones of these I have not seen. As for my recommends, it really depends..I love a lot of really old movies from the 40s and 30s so I don't know if those would be what you would like...

As far as the Bruce Campbell stuff, I love Bruce, but I saw his directorial self parody, His Name is Bruce or something, a little too cheesy, a little too like those very bad Elivra feature films (I mean the ones she was actually in, not the ones she showed). Bubba Ho Tep I do love...funny, but a little embarrassing because I brought my parents because my dad is an afficionado of all things silly (loves Attack of the Killer Tomatoes and a movie called Flesh Gordon) but all the penis references made me kind of want to make my mom leave..it's just a little weird.

Off the top of my head, I really liked Tremors (the first one) and Slither which were both kind of homages to B movie horror.

The Lives of Others is pretty fascinating for those interested in life in East Germany during the Cold War.

Khartoum is a great film too. Nobody I ask has ever seen it.

Anyone seen "Ravenous" ? I watched it once years ago, can't find it anywhere. Thought it was a great film...dark comedy, kind of a horror theme.

Probably has a lot to do with my dislike for Reese Witherspoon. The only film i liked her in was SFW and Cruel Intentions.

Oh, and it may not really be a classic perse but check out Russell Crow in the early 90's movie Romper Stomper.

Oh ya, one of my favorites... Sneakers.

Not sure if Robert Redford directed it or not, but it's got an all star cast, interesting plot, great comedy, little bit of suspense...classic imo.

I liked the Boys from Brazil. Jeremiah Johnson is one of my all time favorite movies.

Formula 51 is a great movie.
Brotherhood of the Wolf is awesome.
Dog Soldiers is good.
13th Warrior is definitely a smart movie.
Hotel Rwanda is a must see movie.

Little seen? I haven't seen these in awhile so I am just guessing that they still have substance. I cannot think of the really good ones right now.

Silent Running (old Bruce Dern)
Harold and Maude (Goofy movie)
12 Monkeys (Brad Pitt)
Memento (Kind of like Butterfly effect messing with perceptions of time)
Black Pirate - Douglas Fairbanks - B&W 1929
Appaloosa (Should have been big as Forgiven but wasn't)
The man who shot Liberty Valance (John Wayne)

I think Brad Pitt is my favorite film star. He replaced Redford when he did 12 monkeys and there is nothing he's been in that I did not like. Clint Eastwood is another one but I cannot think of anything that he was in that people don't all know about. I am sure if I looked on up.

I have seen everything from "Birth of a Nation" (Griffith) to Zoolander. I tell people I don't watch that many movies but I guess I actually do.

I loved that series. It was kind of poking fun at the Lee Marvin / Lee Van Cleef tough guy stuff during that genre's height. Hilarious.
