BTW, the space station awoke today to "Wish You Were Here" by the Floyd.

Yeah, I think that kicks all ass.

In the long term I wonder about the choice of lyrics...

Hawkwind would've been a better choice, but I guess they just weren't that imaginative.

Not to knock BB's talent, but I was always WAY more impressed by blues guitarists like Albert King, Albert Collins, et al. Those guys were better than BB but didn't get as much recognition simply because their business chops weren't as good.
You know whose the best King of all IMO, Freddie King. That dude had some chops that IMO were beyond what BB had. BB IMO though lived longer then all the other dudes, which makes him I think more of the icon.

Also BB like you said was just out there marketing himself and also playing tons and tons of gigs.

Hell I've seen him live like 3-4 times without even trying. Seems like he's always playing.

We love covering all those cats though because they all loved to be backed up by horns. I really dig the whole rocking type anthem blues with big horns and BB always put that sort of stuff out there.

Yeah we do I wouldn't treat a dog, and then BB and Bobby's version of Let The Good Times Roll.

Bobby Blue just different though because he wasn't also playing lead guitar.

Wow - just noticed the date on your post after following a rep comment back here.

By 1977, KLZ had already become KMGH (purchased from the Time/Life folks by McGraw/Hill.)

My dad worked for KLZ from '63 to '73. The guy who did the weather then was Warren Chandler. We lived just up the road from him in Evergreen.

BTW, the station started out as a CBS affiliate, but it's ABC now, right?

Bump.

I was watching the NFLN and they are featuring a song by the Eels, it's entitled "Prizefighter" and they play the song when they do the training camp feature. They play about 2 minutes of the song while showing different training camps and they start the vid off with a film reel that says something like "Training Camp 2009" and then end the vid with a film reel that says "NFL Network" (I think).

Anyhoo, I've listed the Eels as a top five fav. and if you want to hear a good song pay attention to NFLN during their NFL Total Access program.

They've had one song that I think got a little national air time but really, they stay off the grid. Eels is actually one guy and I'm not sure if he has a band or if he hires session musicians and tour musicians.

I was looking over their information on Wiki and i think the song was "Novacaine for the Soul". I would have to hear it againt to confirm it though. Didnt seem bad the time but it was amid all the other grunge/alternative rock at the time.

The lead singer is the dude who's dad came up with the String theory.

I saw a kick assed Nova on him.
