Howard Eskin of 610 WIP in Philly reports that Eagles middle linebacker Stewart Bradley suffered a torn ACL on Sunday night during a scrimmage.

He's expected to be out for the year.

Bradley became the starter last year at the position, and he was expected to be the primary signal-caller on defense this season.
thats disaster for them right there that would be like al wilson going down when he was healthy and replacing him with niko koutivides....thats what they are looking at right now.....

with that/jim johnson/dawkins gone its going to be very tough for that d next year.....

Bengals might have lost Reggie Kelly for the season

http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com...or-the-season/

Posted by Mike Florio on August 3, 2009 1:47 PM ET

Geoff Hobson of Bengals.com reports that Cincinnati tight end Reggie Kelly has suffered an apparent injury to his Achilles tendon during practice on Monday.

He reportedly left the facility in a van, with his left foot wrapped in a bag of ice.

If Kelly ruptured the tendon, he likely will miss the entire season.

At least the Bengals drafted TE Chase Coffman from Missouri.

Kemoeatu tears Achilles tendon

http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com...hilles-tendon/

Posted by Gregg Rosenthal on August 3, 2009 8:51 PM ET

After a quiet first week of injuries during training camp around the NFL, starters are quickly falling by the wayside Monday.

First the Eagles lost middle linebacker Stewart Bradley, then the Bengals lost tight end Reggie Kelly, and now the Panthers will be without starting defensive tackle Maake Kemoeatu.

Kemoeatu, perhaps the key to Carolina's rush defense, tore his right Achilles tendon. The team hasn't announced anything, but he's likely done for the season.

It's an especially massive loss for the Panthers because they have little depth behind him.

When Kemoeatu was out last year, the team's rush defense fell apart.

"It's like night and day," linebacker Jon Beason said at the time of having Kemoeatu in the lineup.

Undrafted free agent Marlon Favorite is Kemoeatu's primary backup, and third-round pick Corvey Irvin could also be used in a rotation.

There aren't many exciting free agent defensive tackles available, and it's questionable if the Panthers can fit one on the team anyhow.

Julius Peppers' big salary has the team snug to the salary cap.

Patriots drop Gutierrez

http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com...rop-gutierrez/

Posted by Gregg Rosenthal on August 3, 2009 9:05 PM ET

The Patriots have confirmed the signing of Andrew Walter, a story broken by PFT's fearless leader earlier this evening.

To make room for Walter, the team waived quarterback Matt Gutierrez.

Gutierrez made the Patriots as an undrafted free agent in 2007, and there was some belief he was set to pass Matt Cassel on the depth chart last offseason.

That didn't happen. Cassel is now a $60 million man, and Gutierrez is looking for work.

Josh McDaniels and Scott Pioli are two logical suitors; they are always willing to kick the tires on some Patriots castaways.

Cassel can be assured Gutierrez wouldn't challenge him this time if they wound up teammates.

A league source tells us that the Eagles finally have agreed to terms with receiver Jeremy Maclin on a five-year deal.

Per the source, Maclin will pocket $9.5 million in guaranteed money.

Adam Caplan of Scout.com reports that the deal has a total value of $15.5 million.

Adam Terry out for the year

http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com...-for-the-year/

Posted by Mike Florio on August 4, 2009 11:03 AM ET

Our own Aaron Wilson (primarily of the Carroll County Times) advises us that Ravens offensive lineman Adam Terry will miss the entire 2009 season.

Per Wilson, Terry needs further knee surgery.

He appeared in twelve games last year, starting seven of them. He played in each postseason game.

The Kansas City Chiefs are leaning toward signing veteran receiver Amani Toomer, according to two NFL sources.

Toomer could be signed as soon as Tuesday if the Chiefs follow through their current thinking, the sources said. Toomer was one of three veteran receivers Kansas City worked out Monday as their early training-camp work showed the team they may need more help for new quarterback Matt Cassel.

Kansas City also looked at receivers D.J. Hackett and David Terrell. Toomer is the most accomplished of the three. Despite the fact that he will turn 35 next month, Toomer can still be productive. He had 48 catches for the Giants last season, which was his 13th with the club.

First-round pick Darrius Heyward-Bey dropped four passes at Raiders camp Monday. (UPDATE: DHB dropped three more in 1-on-1 drills Tuesday morning.)

Just read rotoworld and came here to post about the DHB implosion! I feel bad for the young man (although his wallet is doing just fine). He's going to get eviscerated out in Oakland and probably lose his confidence. Al is so freakin' retarded.

Also, looks like the Chargers have a hammer RB developing in their camp as well

http://www3.signonsandiego.com/stori...gers/?chargers

per rotoworld:

Quote:
Rookie fourth-round RB Gartrell Johnson has been one of the most impressive players since the Chargers started practicing in pads a couple of days ago.

Johnson turned in an unimpressive forty time at the combine, but he makes up for it with an explosive initial burst. Also a solid blocker and receiver, Johnson holds the NCAA record for most yards from scrimmage in a bowl game with 375 against Fresno State. He's battling Michael Bennett for the No. 3 job

You should start a thread that keeps track of his drops throughout camp and the season. Guy is garbage and I love it! Wasnt Watts(the claw) a good route runner too?
