Andre Smith is my first guess, with Tyson Jackson being my second guess.

I thought more than 4 first round picks would be signed by now.

Last year at this time, there were only 3 unsigned 1st round picks left.

Unsigned 1st Round Picks on 7/28/2008:

7. Sedrick Ellis DT New Orleans Unsigned
8. Derrick Harvey DE Jacksonville Unsigned
9. Keith Rivers LB Cincinnati Unsigned

I'm hoping Heyward-Bey holds out and is the last to sign.

Right about now, Brad Childress has to be thinking about what a dick tease Favre is.

The Philadelphia Eagles are saddened to announce Jim Johnson has passed away Tuesday afternoon at the age of 68 after a courageous battle with cancer.

A veteran of 22 years as an NFL assistant, Johnson is regarded as one of the top defensive masterminds in National Football League history. Over the last decade, he gained a great deal of praise as the orchestrator of the renowned Eagles defense. His aggressive style kept Philadelphia at or near the top of the NFL in nearly every major defensive category since joining Andy Reid's staff on January 22, 1999.

I always liked the way Johnson coached his defense. I see McDermett has been promoted. I was thinking/hoping if Nolan did well next year and got signed as a head coach, McDermett would be a guy to go after. I preferred him over Nolan to begin with.

Offensive lineman Eric Wood has agreed to a five-year contract with the Bills, according to a league source, becoming the fifth first-round pick from the 2009 draft class to reach a deal.

A sure sign of how much work Spags has to do in St Louis, signing this washed up fat azz. Right out of the Shanny D-line desperation playbook.

Hollis Thomas lands with the Rams
Posted by Mike Florio on July 29, 2009 2:47 PM ET

We recently mentioned that veteran defensive tackle Hollis Thomas would make a decision this week, picking a team from the four that were interested in him -- including the Rams.

And the Rams ended up winning the contest.

According to Jim Thomas of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, Thomas has agreed to terms with the Rams.

It's believed to be a one-year deal.

Thomas is a 13-year veteran. After a decade in Philly, Thomas spent three seasons in New Orleans.

Speaking of the Rams...

Laurinaitis agrees with Rams
Posted by Mike Florio on July 29, 2009 3:40 PM ET

As few first-round picks agree to terms, a guy who was supposed to be a first-round pick but ended up being a second-round pick has agreed to terms.

According to Jim Thomas of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, the Rams have agreed to terms with linebacker James Laurinaitis, formerly of Ohio State.

It's a four-year deal.

Per Thomas, the Rams also are making progress with tackle Jason Smith, the second overall selection in the entire draft.

On Wednesday night, Ravens tackle Michael Oher agreed to a five-year contract with the Ravens, according to the team's website.

Best LB in the draft, IMO. This kid is going to be a leader and a player. He won't make the flashy plays but he'll be a consistent 125 tackle per year type of guy and he will lead that defense. Glad he went to the NFC.

Earlier today, Schefter tweeted that the Raiders and receiver Darrius Heyward-Bey, the seventh overall pick in the draft, have agreed to terms.

According to Tom Silverstein of the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel, the Packers have agreed to terms with linebacker Clay Matthews, the 26th overall selection in round one.

Silverstein reports that the five-year deal has a base value of $10 million, with a high-end package potential of $13.275 million.

Matt Jones has spoken with four teams

http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com...th-four-teams/

Posted by Gregg Rosenthal on July 30, 2009 1:47 PM ET

Matt Jones was on pace for 1,000 receiving yards on a mediocre passing attack last season before his three-game suspension kicked in.

With that in mind, the lack of interest in Jones this offseason has been surprising.

Jones said recently, however, that his agent has spoken with the Titans, Bears, Jets, and Cowboys.

"Things are looking good," Jones told 103.7 in Little Rock. "Something probably will happen sooner rather than later. We just want it to be a good fit and somewhere where I can get in there and help a team win."

That none of the teams signed him before camp indicates that he's not exactly a priority. It seems more likely that Jones will join a team after they lose a veteran to an injury.

It's not like Jones is still on the market because of lingering complications about his probation violation. The NFL has already told Jones that he won't be suspended again, and the felony cocaine charges filed against him last year have been dropped.

The Jets are the most intriguing name on the list. The New York Daily News wrote recently that they are looking at the veteran free agent market.

After Jerricho Cotchery, the Jets have a lot of question marks and not a lot of players with a high ceiling. Signing an ascending veteran that has produced like Jones could make rookie Mark Sanchez's introduction to the league a little smoother.

Of course, if the rest of the league thought as highly of Jones' abilities as this post does, he would already have a home.

Falcons sign Peria Jerry

Posted by Mike Florio on July 30, 2009 8:40 PM ET

The floodgates officially opened today, with a flurry of first-round signings that has resulted most recently in an agreement between defensive tackle Peria Jerry and the Atlanta Falcons.

The news comes from the Falcons' official web site.

Terms were not disclosed, but it's presumably a five-year deal.

Jerry was the 24th overall pick in round one. He's still only the tenth first-rounder to agree to terms, but look for more agreements to come soon.
