Great Song

The song was written about the death of 7-year-old Katie Flynn. Katie had been the flower girl at her aunt's wedding and left in a limousine. The limousine was hit by another car and Katie was decapitated. Katie and the limousine driver, Stanley Rabinowitz, were both instantly killed. The driver of the other car, Martin Heidgen, 25, had at least 14 drinks that night and his blood alcohol content, at 0.28%, was more than three times the legal limit in New York (0.08%). He drove more than two miles north on the southbound side of the highway the Flynn family were driving along at the time of the collision.

I think your confused Mock. Cream had Clapton, Jack Bruce and Ginger Baker. Jeff Beck and Eric Clapton both played in The Yardbirds, but not at the same time (I do love The Yardbirds, esp. with Beck).

Jimmy Page, Eric Clapton and Jeff Beck all played in The Yardbirds, but not at the same time. Actually, I do think Page and Beck were in the band at the same time, but it wasn't for long.

Winwood was in Traffic, another fantastic band. Also, I think he was in another R & B band, but I can't recall of the top of my head...

You are correct sir.

I think Mock was talking about Blind Faith?

I whould have liked to see the new Clapton/Winwood tour, that looked very good on PBS.

But with the recent clapton/winwood tour I figured he was thinking BF.

I didn't know Beck was in SPD.

I saw Beck on PBS recently also, he has a great band, with a chick bass player who if I remember was hot.

A dullard friend of mine saw this tour and said -and I quote.."All that happened was Clapton played 7 minute solos in every damn song" I looked blankly at him and then left abruptly to buy tickets to the show in my city.

Beck was never in the SDG Mock was thinking Yardbirds....must've been.

That chick bass player is the same one LABF talked about some time ago in the CD thread, there's some video out there of her if I remember correctly.

Limousine is a very good song, certainly one of my favorites (I have many favorites from BN).

Edit:

Also, looking deeper into the story, after the accident, the mother was holding on to her daughters head.

connecting the song with the story is very sad.

""As I crawled out of the car, the only thing that was left of Kate was her head," said Ms. Flynn, 36, her voice cracking as her mother-in-law, who sat in the audience, began to sob. "And I took her, just that, and sat on the side of the Meadowbrook and watched at the horrendousness going on around me."

Beck replaced Clapton in the Yardbirds.

It was Clapton, Winwood, and Baker who formed the original Blind Faith.

Um, you are aware that "Jethro Tull" is the name of the group and that there isn't actually an individual in the band named "Jethro Tull," right?

Do you have some sort of source for the claims re: Tull and Zeppelin/Page?

Those would be news to me.

Correct.

Page played bass for The Yardbirds for a while when he first joined the band before moving to six string. The dual lead guitar concept was Jeff Beck's idea (pretty revolutionary concept - this was before The Allman Bros, et al, did the same thing if memory serves me.)
