I love Bushmills Irish Whiskey ... Jameson too.

In fact, I did a "My Top 5 favorite Drinks" on Facebook.

Jameson = 2nd
Bushmills = 5th

Lagavulin is the best scotch you can get under $100 IMO, but you have to like your scotch VERY peety and VERY smokey. I can down half a bottle of this in one sitting, no problem, which is unfortunate because it's expensive and which is why I also don't allow myself to buy it on a regualr basis.

Yes, it's a little more on the low end of expensive scotches and a little more mellow than I tend to like (but most Highlands are). A good middle-of-the-road scotch that you shouldn't need to add ice to drink. Enjoy!

Bowtown, appreciate the input. I just had a straight shot and was surprised how smooth it was. I am considering a second.

My daughter recommended an Olivia series V or Don Lino Africa cigar with my Dalmore.

I can't express how much I like Evan Williams Black Label ... it's a very cheap brand ($12 a bottle), but I'll take it over Beam or even Jack. We've all had cheap bourbons, Ten High, Old Grand Dad, Ezra Brooks, but this one is different. I've liked it ever since I was a teenager and we paid a bum to buy us a bottle of Jack ... he came back with Evan Williams, "It looked the same."

Not long ago, Esuire Magazine named Evan Williams the best inexpesinve liquor on the market:

Even better, though, is Evan Williams — hands down the best cheap liquor we tasted (and at 86 proof, the only one higher than the legal minimum of 80 proof). A complex nose — we picked up things like yeast, dill, corn bread, ash, and toasted coconut — is only the overture. On the palate, it's impressively thick and chewy, with a grainy sweetness balanced out by tannins that only develop with long aging. We must admit that we find this whiskey enormously comforting — not just what's in the bottle but also the very fact that it exists. Any country that can turn out something this serious at this price is in some fundamental way doing okay.

Why it's cheap: High quality + low price = sales volume.

What it's best for: Drinking.

3 of the 4 are my favorites. Usually drink Black on the rocks with a splash of water.

I like the way you drink it ... on the rocks with a splash of water. That works for me with Irish and American whiskeys too.

WHISKEY TRIVIA: Traditionally, Scotch and Canadian whiskys spell "whisky" without the "e",
while Irish and American whiskeys spell it with the "e" ... (there will be a test later)

I'm not convinced, why don't you send me a bottle and I will let you know if I agree.

It's a very low-priced whiskey, the shipping would cost more than the bottle.

Part of the beauty of Evan Williams Black Label (not green label, remember the difference), is the price. $12 a fifth, maybe $7-8 a pint ... give it a shot.

I should make clear that I was HIGHLY skeptical about Evan Williams when I read that article ... I'm familiar with all the swill of the same price ... Ten High, Old Grand Dad, Ezra Brooks, Old Crow ... but this one's different. Give it a try.

I can't see the distillery there ... which one is it? How much is the bottle?

It looks great.

It was about 25 bucks for a fifth here in NY state. I think it is its own distillery.

Its almost 11am on Friday and all I can think about is kicking my feet up and having a bourbon on the rocks. I think I may try and grab one of these... how does it compare to Makers?

If you are in the mood for bourbon and you are willing to part with about $45, go pick youyself up a bottle of Basil Hayden's. One of the most drinkable bourbons I know of. Maker's can't compare to this stuff. Most liquor stores carry it.

Well, obviously tastes vary. I would put it pretty much in the same category. Very good, no doubt, but not my favorite.
