Meh. I don't think much of this new time-narrative. It seems too pedestrian for lost.

It seems impossible to top the first five seasons ... but the premier Wednesday wasn't bad really. Hurley going to jail is an interesting twist ... and I think Sun has some diabolical I'm liking Daniel Faraday's character more and more ... he might know more about all these mysteries than any character other than Ben. |

I'm guessing Faraday's mother is the jeweler woman with Desmond a couple seasons ago when he was traveling through time and the same women with Ben at the end of the season premiere.

Well, the survivors flew back to the island, most of them made it back to 1977 where they just nuked the island in hopes that it would change their fates where Oceanic 815 lands safely at LAX like it was supposed to. But there's one whole season left so you know this won't end that neatly.
But let's say this really did happen and 815 really does have a safe flight with these same passengers as the original manifest. What would we be left with? * Locke stuck in a wheelchair and leading a pathetic life. * Kate in federal custody. * Sawyer still as a conman/a-hole that he was when the plane crashed. * Jack returns to his practice and his gradual descent into alcoholism. * Sun and Jin back to barely speaking with each other. It would be good news for Boone and his sister, Charlie, Claire, Mr. Eko and all the folks who died in the plane crash. It would suck for the people who lived on the island in 1977 and hadn't come from the future. What becomes of Desmond and his son? So, what plot twists do you think will happen before they put this all in a pretty bow and close the story? |

And Claire was probably okay .... I don't think they've made enough of the (great) plot twist that Jack and Claire are half-siblings ![]() Quote:
"Moral to the story" ending doesn't sound much like how this series rolls, but they can't just fade to black Sopranos-style without making some kind of statement I hope they finish up this series with even half as good of a mind-blowing finish as they ended last year ... seeing Locked in that coffin was the best jolt I ever had from a TV show ... almost like The Sixth Sense. On the Hajira Air flight a couple weeks ago?I kinda barely remember he was carrying one.
I still like the show a great deal, but the time jumping - although major interesting to see Ben as a kid, Sawyer join Dharma, and the Asian scientist on the grainy, spooky training films come to life - it's frustrating to understand cause and effect. |

I dunno what I think of this Jacob ... especially that he's seeking out the 815 people before the flight I'm a HUGE believer in free will and determination, I hate sayings like "if it's meant to be," or "if it's God's will," etc ... I hate the idea of pre-determination narratives, in real life or on TV. It robs us of free will. But Jacob ... I expected a lot more than a guy Ben/Locke could just kill with a knife ... ACTUALLY ... that guitar might be related to Charlie. CHarlie has an acoutsic guitar on the island remember |

I don't believe it has been revealed but it would not surprise me if it was somehow connected to Charlie. Hurley shared a cab with Jacob and claimed he didn't know who owned the guitar case and yet Hurley carries the case aboard the plane (which I think is now an FAA no-no after 9-11; the guitar has to be checked baggage).

Another part worth noting is a couple episodes back when Farraday said his calculation (which initially said you can't change the future) had left out one variable: the human element. Humans are the wildcard, and the can often change their minds (i.e. free will), changing things. I believe that is a crucial theme from here on out. We saw it dramatically in this finale with Juliette suddenly changing positions on the whole let-Jack-set-off-a-hydrogen-bomb thing. That changed everything, and I believe she did change the course of history at the very end by setting it off. On an unrelated note, I think a large portion of the last season will be devoted to showing just how this chess game of sorts was played out between Jacob and his Enemy. Right before killing Jacob, Enemy/Locke tells him "you have no idea how much I did to get to this point," which implies much of the show has been a setup by this guy to get to Jacob. Jacob, though, seems at peace at the end and says "they're coming" which seems to piss off Enemy/Locke, as though Jacob has been putting his pieces in place all along as well. As seen through the constant black and white symbolism (remember all the backgammon with Locke and Walt early on?), I think our castaways have been the pawns in the middle of a battle between a couple gods/higher beings. |

I started to think that the black rock was what brought Richard and the others to the Island. Latin speech, he's been there for an undisclosed amount of time but certainly well before the hydrogen bomb
