It is nice to see that you apply your same broad sweeping generalizations and fuzzy logic jumps to all topics...not just Bronco related.

You ARE consistent!

All MP3 bit rates are not created equal. I would challenge anybody to do a double blind test of a 192 bit rate or above against a lossless format and tell me which is which...much less that the MP3 is 'trash'.

You're wasting your time. This isn't Popps' first rodeo. He has stock responses for everything in the lossless vs mp3 battle. Just accept the reality that you cannot defeat him and move on. Continue to torture yourself with ****ty mp3s forever while he experiences nothing but pure eargasms via FLAC and WAV. He'll worry about hard drive space later.

I couldn't tell you if they're worth anything Bobo, but for my money the Motorola (MOTOROKR) S9-HDs are perfect. Not sure if you are looking for wireless or what, but the S9s are bluetooth wireless and also have a mic so that you can use them for a number of different things. I don't hear so well and having all of my phone calls in stereo now helps tremendously. I can also use them to talk/listen with online games such as COD IV. "Wicked Awesome" is how I'd rate them, but then I'm not real picky and Popp's advice is the basic reason why. I've listened to some of my MP3s on the best headsets by BOSE. Whatever the $350 ones are (which is nucking futs) still had one ear playing louder than the other with my MP3s. And, most MP3 players don't have a balance feature.

I thankfully must have missed those threads as I hate religious wars almost as much as ignorance.

Interesting .... I rip everything now, and ripped all 300 CDs I had before, at 256 bits, seems to sound better. Only minor prollem is the size of the files is a lot larger. No prob, my HDD is huge.

I won't download anything less that 192 either.

I've read where it's Digital-to-Audio converter that really compromises the quality, not the underlying information so much. You can buy D/A converters that are good enough to permit you to go from your computer to your home system, I've heard them and they do make a difference.

No they are still like new. Lot's of bass and overall good sound. I got them as a Xmas present from my wife 1.5 years ago and never had any issues with them.

Always talking about you HDD size Buff...

I agree, the DACs will make a big difference. However, all things being equal between the samples....the sole difference in bit rate above 192 has proven to not be discernible for almost everybody in double blind tests.

I would bet a lot of money that you wouldn't be able to tell the difference between 192 and 256+. If anything it proves people have strong biases when they know they are listening to lossless or higher bit rates. It becomes more confusing for them when they are being blind tested.

I personally think Bose is over hyped marketing.

Go to headfi.org. Lots of their information is for crazy people who spend 500 dollars on headphones, but there is a ton of information on affordable headphones. its probably the best source out there for information on headphones, speakers etc.

There are really good earbuds out there for less than 100. I use Nu-Force NE-7M and for 50 dollars they are quite good. I also have a pair of FutureSonics in ears that I love, the bass is tight and substantial in these (150).

Maybe explain a couple things. Ever since I started ripping exclusively at 320 bits a couple years ago I've noticed: 1) the songfiles are about double the size of the 128 bit, 2) they're actually much louder 3) all the 128s I ripped bought and downloaded now sound like crap.

Also for anybody still ripping at 128 ..... I used to wish my player had more power, that the volume could go louder, I've heard lots of people say the same thing. But ever since I started ripping at 320 I haven't wanted it louder, in fact I turn it down.

I don't get why people would rip at 128 ever. Hell I don't even like downloading 192. I will if I absolutely have too, but I'm usually bitter about it.

256 or 320 FTW.
