Had Beck, Bogart & Appice out today for a bit
Reminds me of the old epic discussions (battles?) with Broncobuff about where John Bonham got his drums and drum sound from . Here's the source, Vinnie Appice, along with Tim Bogart (both fresh out of Vanilla Fudge) teamed up with Jeff Beck for a one off answer project to Grand Funk Railroad. (So, If Grand Funk Railroad was the power trio for those too late for Cream and this was the answer to what GFR was doing, then that would make Mountain the low budget version of both, wouldn't it?? Whatever).Anyways, I know it's poor quality and all....but I wanted authentic, "at the time" footage. check out Appice's solo starting around the four minute mark. Great stuff. |

I grew up a huge Vanilla Fudge fan....always loved the over the top vocals and the freaked out Rascals sound demolishing cover tune after cover tune. They had all the musical ability and chops in the world, but couldn't write one damn song of their own to save their lives. Still, their albums are pretty wild, totally fun and still upset purists to this very day. Check out this desecration of the old soul classic Shotgun Last edited by Hogan11; 03-28-2009 at 12:54 PM.. |

Have had the privilege of playing with Tim on a few dates - talk about a groove master! BTW, a lot of people don't know that Tim is also an outstanding vocalist - I took some voice lessons from him when I was in music school, and he really helped me out a lot. |

Damn. Some serious rock 'n roll dementia from 1973 vintage Pink Floyd. Saw them that year at the old Chicago Amphitheatre. |

I pulled out Spoon for this nice spring day we're having. Blasting "The Underdog" next to some wannabe gangsta blasting his crap of the month was funny. He did a double take when he heard what I was cranking out of my speakers.
