Ginger Baker had an awesome solo on "Had To Cry Today" while he was playing with Stevie Winwood and Eric Clapton on "Blind Faith's" debut album, er..dating myself, CD!

You have to give credit to Metallica, no doubt... but they are definitely not the best musicians out there. (and I don't like the music that much either)

They do have some great songs, though.
He just got the wrong Lars Ulrich great drums song....it's actually "Dyer's Eve" from AJFA......fanboy or not, it's a great track.

According to Dave Mustaine (source is questionable, i know), Metallica was about to rid itself of Lars Ulrich before they laid down Kill Em All. Instead, Mustaine went drug-alkie-sane and they booted HIM. I like Lars' stuff and sound on And Justice For All, overall, but he ain't exactly a technical wizard.

Gene Kroupa (sp). Buddy Rich to me is the best drummer that ever lived. I play the drums regularly and still can't get over how good he and fast he is. Steve Smith from Journey like someone said. That Don't Stop Believing pattern is so hard to get down. Bonham, probably the one drummer i would pick to start a band. Even though hes not the fastest, I've never heard a tighter drummer than him. That solo on Fool in the Rain never gets old. And the shuffle is amazing he uses on it too.

Peart is a little to right left right left for my taste but he is a great progressive rock drummer.

For my taste though I like guys like Steve Gadd, Jeff Poccoro, Dennis Chambers etc.

Steely dan always used the best friggin drummers. This is one of my favorite songs, albums, and drummers, great choice.
