After visiting both the Patriots and Bills over the past few days, it is believed that free agent running back Fred Taylor will sign with New England.

Both teams made contract offers to the 11-year veteran, but the Patriots’ recent run of success may have tipped the balance for Taylor, who has seen two players close to him — cousin Santonio Holmes with the Steelers and friend Plaxico Burress with the Giants — win Super Bowl rings, something Taylor hasn’t had a chance to come close to achieving yet.

Kurt Warner to hit the market
Thursday, February 26, 2009
Posted By Mike Florio 7:03 PM
The Cardinals are letting quarterback Kurt Warner hit the open market after he helped guide the team to its first Super Bowl appearance.
According to Adam Schefter of NFL Network, Warner's agent spent the day in Arizona in the hopes of working out a new contract.

And to no avail.

Thus, Warner will become a free agent at midnight. Per Schefter, Warner is "not opposed" to making free-agent visits.

Schefter points out that there's a "perception" that Warner plans to stay in Arizona, and that this "perception" is apparently affecting the negotiations.

But that "perception" comes from Warner's own mouth. Indeed, Warner told Sporting News Radio earlier this week that he's focused on re-signing with the Cardinals or retiring.

So now the question becomes whether someone else is willing to pay Warner more than the Cardinals have offered, and whether Warner is willing to walk. Reportedly, the Cardinals' most recent offer was in the range of $10 million to $12 million per season on a two-year deal.

The Vikings seemed to be an ideal potential destination, before they agreed to acquire Sage Rosenfels from the Texans. Other teams for whom Warner would provide a significant upgrade include, in our view, the Bills, the Browns, the Titans, the Jaguars, the Texans, the Chiefs, the Raiders, the Redskins, the Bears, the Lions, the Buccaneers, and the 49ers.

I'd say. Per Kffl...

Adam Schefter, of the NFL Network, reports CB DeAngelo Hall has reached an agreement on a six-year contract worth $54 million with the Washington Redskins. The deal includes $22.5 million guaranteed and $30 million in the first three years of the deal.

That's f*#*ing nuts!

Tom Brady gets married to Brazilian model.

http://edition.cnn.com/2009/SHOWBIZ/...ied/index.html

LOS ANGELES, California (CNN) -- Brazilian model Gisele Bundchen married National Football League star Tom Brady Thursday in an "intimate" sunset ceremony, US Weekly magazine reported on its Web site.
Tom Brady and Gisele Bundchen attend a Metropolitan Museum of Art gala May 5, 2008, in New York City.

The couple wed at a Catholic church in Santa Monica, California, in front of mostly immediate family members, the entertainment magazine reported.

The two had dated since 2006.

Sounds like the Browns got a 2nd round pick in the 2009 draft as well as a 5th round pick in the 2010 draft from Tampa Bay for Kellen Winslow.

That is actually a pretty good deal for the Browns.

Winslow wants a new deal and the Browns were hesitant to give him one, due to his injury history and the condition of his knees.

None of the free-agent players who played last season for the Broncos had signed with another team by Friday night. . . .

I wouldn't mind us getting Grady Jackson and bringing back DRob if he would want to come back to a 3-4. That would be some beef on the line.

per yahoo

Defensive end Chris Canty has lined up a visit with the New York Giants on Saturday, and then with the Seattle Seahawks on Monday.
The two teams are intriguing, considering they both run 4-3 schemes, and Canty has been a 3-4 defensive end during his time with Dallas. Should he end up in New York, he'd become part of a remarkable defensive line, which would include tackle Fred Robbins and defensive ends Osi Umenyiora, Justin Tuck and Mathias Kiwanuka. Adding Canty to that unit would make it one of the most athletic and aggressive defensive lines in the NFL.

The Philadelphia Eagles officially have announced that free-agent tackle Stacy Andrews has joined the team.

Andrews, who spent five years in Cincinnati and played in 2008 under the franchise tag, signed a six-year deal.

Terms have not been disclosed. Though we heard on Friday that the deal averages $7 million per year, it remains to be seen whether the Eagles have protected themselves against the possibility that Andrews' late-season ACL tear will impact his ability to play at a high level.

DENVER POLICE REFUSE TO RELEASE TAPE OF LENDALE INCIDENT

Posted by Mike Florio: Saturday, February 28, 2009 9:03 AM
We take a short break from the ongoing free-agency coverage to explore one of the other issues currently residing well below radar.

Two weeks ago in Denver, Titans running back LenDale White allegedly was involved in an incident that allegedly resulted in White allegedly beating a man with an alleged belt and buckle during an argument between White and his friends and a second group of men.

White wasn't and won't be charged. As we pointed out over at PFT in the salad days before the site went to garbage (and we're not just talking about the name of a cat), the fact that the alleged victim (a boy named Leslie) landed in the hospital with lacerations raises questions about what precisely occurred.

As it turns out, there's apparently video evidence reflecting part of all of the incident, courtesy of a camera mounted atop a traffic light. As it also turns out, video from the so-called "HALO" camera supposedly contradicted part or all of the alleged victim's story, contributing to the decision not to charge White.

And here's the kicker. The media in Denver is trying to get its mitts on the video, and the authorities are refusing to disclose it.

"Pursuant to that policy, 'information obtained from HALO use will be used exclusively for public safety and law enforcement purposes,'" Mary Dulacki of the Denver Department of Safety wrote to CBS4 in Denver. (Is it OK to say CBS here? Or should I just say "a Denver television station" like ESPN would do? Is there a handbook or something on this?) "Because you are not affiliated with a public safety or law enforcement agency, your request for access to any videotapes obtained from a HALO camera is accordingly denied."

We've got a feeling that this isn't the end of it. Is that Stone guy still on the payroll?
