Jonathan Bernier has been called up to the Kings...hopefully he plays against the Avalanche this week. Bring it on Bronx!

He should get the start against the Avalanche. Kings play the Wild tomm. night and then travel to play the Avalanche the next night. The general rule of thumb in hockey is that you never start a goalie two straight nights on the road.

Kings beat the Wild 5-2.
The Kings became only the second team this season to score more than four goals against the Wild in a game. The other was Colorado, in a 6-5 victory on Dec. 1. Kings goals came from Calder, Kopitar (on the power play...yes, really), Brown, Armstrong and O'Sullivan (into an empty net). Drew Doughty had two assists and Jonathan Quick had 25 saves. ![]() Next up....The Avalanche tomm night. |

stuff it Bronx. But yeah I ran into some notable Colorado Sport figures. Group of us ran into Sakic and he said his back is coming along and another Kings fan told him that he would hate to see his career end with an injury. We all shook his hands and left. Classy guy, 3rd time I have met him. Also ran into Jeff Francis of the Rockies, it looked like he was with family and just hello and said he would look good in a Dodgers uni someday. ![]() One thing though, I was surprised by the small crowd. hmm. |

this is just stupid, bettman has got to go MONTREAL -- The NHL will force erstwhile All-Stars Pavel Datsyuk and Nicklas Lidstrom to miss the Detroit Red Wings' first game after the All-Star break for failing to attend this weekend's festivities. |

![]() That was fun to watch AO in the skills competition, using Geno was hilarious. Also Chara has a mean slap shot...breaking the record at 105 mph for fastest shot. Wow. |

Thank God for Terry Frei, I never would have heard of this Ovenchikin guy if it wasn't for his column. Apparently there's an "Eastern Conference" in the NHL too. Who would have thought that? The feud with Malkin wasn't recent, people finally decided to talk about it. Yes, the Caps and Wizards have separate owners, however, Leonsis has the right of first refusal on both the Wizards and the Verizon Center when Polin decides to sell. They don't go out of their way to screw over the other. The Caps were always a hot ticket when they are winning, just like the Denver teams are, and just like Denver, DC is still a football town. It's not a surprise they're selling out again. and if you're asking why his popularity is only now soaring among the casual fan, ask Bettman while you're in Montreal. He's the one who decided to hitch the league's future to one player, who while great, is still an immature, whiny little b**** while ignoring Ovechkin, Phaneuf, Shrek errrr Malkin, Kopitar, Vanek, Kovalchuk, etc. Frei would be much better off as that guy off the street who gets an occasional column, that's about the depth of knowledge he can display on any given subject. But then again, given ESPN's hockey reporting, it doesn't surprise me that this guy has an occasional column over there too. Last edited by Hercules Rockefeller; 01-25-2009 at 05:27 PM.. |

Leaving work for the Bruins/Caps game in a little bit. I had no idea when I bought these tix that this would be such a big game.
This should be interesting. Me and 7 of my buddies in the upper deck after 2 hours of "prep". Nothing bad can happen there. |

That was such a great game last night. Sucks the way it ended though, because it didn't do the game justice.

I think malkin and ovechkin get along fine off the ice. I don't think there's a real "feud".

Decent day for the Caps so far. Ovechkin with 3 through 2 putting him 4 clear of Carter and Green now tied for the lead in defenseman scoring despite missing 13 games already this season.
Edit: Forgot to add that that gives Ovy 199 goals for his career now. Last edited by Hercules Rockefeller; 02-01-2009 at 11:13 AM.. |

Kings road awesomeness continues. Defeating the Capitols 5-4.The Kings are now 4-1 in their last five road games and 22-21-7, are over .500 in February for the first time since 2006.
![]() Ovie is a very special player, Congrats on being one of four NHL players to reach 200 career goals in four seasons, joining Wayne Gretzky, Mike Bossy and Mario Lemieux. Joining some seriously elite company there. |
