actually... I think shero's done a good job. He didn't pay Malone the $$$ he wanted, he kept Brooks - i mean this team turned around quick.
But having a large bit of your payroll going to: Crosby, Malkin, Staal (soon), Fluery, Whitney - there's going to be more emphasis on role players and the draft. With the D we have i'm happy there. No proven Wingers in the minors - BUT there is talent. |

The Penguins pipeline is pretty much empty right now, because recently most of the prospects graduating to the big club. Shero needs to fix that asap or its going to hinder your teams in the future. |

Which is why you don't give up 2 1st round picks. The draft has become much, much more important with a cap system.

Josh, there is no doubt in my mind you would have gotten to the finals without Hossa. We said it was a bad move at last years deadline, and we still say it.

last year is just that, its last year, hows this year workin out for ya ? I see ya finally won a game last night, congrats. Youve come full circle in your argument, ya you won last year, but didnt win it all so you accomplished nothing, but while your looking in the past dont forget the 40 years of getting your ass kicked. all im sayin is pick one argument and stick to it, cuz im gettin dizzy watching you change your story. If you want to include history include it all, if you wanna look forward, then look forward. at least i can admit that all those years of kickin your ass means nothing cuz we only have 2 championships out of it, can you do the same about last year? yeah it was a nice run, but still a failure. |

The Pittsburgh Penguins have locked up Jordan Staal with a four-year, $16 million contract extension.
The new contract begins next season will run through the 2012-13 season. Staal, 20, will play the remainder of this season under the terms of his entry-level contract. He has played 204 games with the Penguins over three NHL seasons, scoring 52 goals and 39 assists for 91 points, along with 98 penalty minutes The 6-foot-4, 220-pound native of Thunder Bay, Ontario scored 29 goals as an 18-year-old rookie in 2006-07 and finished second to teammate Evgeni Malkin for the Calder Trophy as NHL rookie of the year. This season, Staal has 11 goals and 10 assists for 21 points in 41 games. He also became the youngest player in NHL history to play his 200th career game. Staal was the Penguins' first-round pick, second overall, in the 2006 NHL Entry Draft. |

The Pittsburgh Penguins say forward Ruslan Fedotenko will miss four-to-six weeks with a broken right hand.
Fedotenko injured his hand less than two minutes into Tuesday night's game against the Atlanta Thrashers in a three punch fight against former Penguin Colby Armstrong. Fedotenko decked Armstrong with the punch, although Fedotenko rarely fights. The Penguins say Fedotenko has been placed on injured reserve. Forward Pascal Dupuis sustained an unspecified injury in the same game, but coach Michel Therrien has said he could return to the lineup in the next few days. |

We just got raped by Herc's Caps.
Sid with a minor injury. This team is in a terribly bad funk. They better snap out of it, because they're now just about a .500 team.

Ehhhh, it was a good way for the Caps to break their own 3-game losing streak and for Ovechkin to break out of his scoreless streak.

Penguins win that trade by a mile.
Pronger is definitely going to be moved and the Sucks GM has his finger on the rebuild button. |

Shero adds leadership with deal for Guerin
SUNRISE, Fla. -- Not to say that Bill Guerin has been around a long time, but when he joins the Penguins today, he will have no trouble fitting in -- with the coaching staff, at least. (Today) |

Penguins forward Adams takes pay cut to stay with team Monday, June 29, 2009 By Dave Molinari, Pittsburgh Post-Gazette Forward Craig Adams took a pay cut to re-sign with the Penguins today. He got a two-year deal that will pay him $550,000 each season, down from the $600,000 he earned in 2008-09. Adams was claimed off waivers from Chicago March 4, and played on the Penguins' fourth line during the stretch drive and playoffs. He also killed penalties. Adams, who would have been an unrestricted free agent Wednesday if he hadn't been re-signed, had three goals and two assists in 24 playoff games. Penguins sell out suites at new arena
Wednesday, July 29, 2009 By Shelly Anderson, Pittsburgh Post-Gazette The Penguins have sold out the 66 suites at Consol Energy Center for their first season in the new arena, 2010-11, the team said today. Also sold out are 32 loge boxes, premium seating that has no equivalent at Mellon Arena, which will be the home of the Penguins for one final season in 2009-10. All suites for the upcoming season are sold out. The team has established a waiting list for suites and loge boxes. It already has a waiting list for season ticket holders. "To sell out all almost 100 suites and loge boxes with more than a year to go before opening the Consol Energy Center is remarkable," team president David Morehouse said in a statement. "It says a lot about the future of Penguins hockey, and it helps ensure that we'll be able to continue to spend at the NHL salary cap and put a strong team on the ice, year after year." Shelly Anderson can be reached at shanderson@post-gazette.com Read more: http://www.post-gazette.com/pg/09210...#ixzz0MqW1yaIq |
