Why would this be Deuce's last game mid season? I missed that discussion.
Because he may be facing a 4 game suspension and it may be his last year with the Saints.

The suspension may not happen though, as it is over a substance that is banned, but was put in some over the counter product in which the ingredients were not listed.

Packers should Fire their coach, they are 5-5 looking at falling to 5-6. They ran off Brent Fargvere, no one in their FO should have a job if I were posting on a Packer board.

Brees has 323 yards and 4 TDs and we are still in the 3rd quarter.

He may just crush Marino's single season passing yardage record.

Good job refs. Man that was a mean hit and unbelievable effort to hold onto the ball.

New Orleans wins to go to 6-5.

Packers fall to 5-6....Packer fan notices that the Jets are 8-3 under Favre.

AHMAN GREEN TO IR

Posted by Michael David Smith on November 25, 2008, 2:10 p.m.

It may be the end of the line for Ahman Green.

The Houston Texans are expected to place Green on injured reserve today, the Houston Chronicle is reporting. That definitely ends his season, probably ends his time with the Texans and might end his career.

The most recent injury for Green was a knee sprain suffered Sunday against the Browns. He has also been limited by groin and hamstring injuries in his two seasons with the Texans.

Green had 74 carries for 294 yards and three touchdowns this season and 70 carries for 260 yards and two touchdowns last season. For that, the Texans paid him more than $11 million.

Although Sunday’s knee injury in and of itself isn’t career-threatening, Green will turn 32 in February, and 32-year-old running backs coming off back-to-back seasons of less than 300 yards aren’t exactly hot commodities in the free agent market. Green might be done.

The Lions have avoided their first non-sellout of a Thanksgiving Day game in more than a decade, which means the game against Tennessee at 12:30 p.m. Thursday will be broadcast in local television markets on CBS (Channel 62 in Detroit).

Anyone else see the fight between Patriots left tackle Matt Light and Dolphins linebacker Channning Crowder on Sunday?

I will be interested to see the fines and or suspensions that result from this.

LIGHT, CROWDER FINED

Posted by Mike Florio on November 26, 2008, 10:34 a.m. EST

Patriots offensive tackle Matt Light and Dolphins linebacker Channing Crowder won’t be suspended for their fight during Sunday’s game in Miami.

But they will be fined, $15,000 each.

Per Adam Schefter of NFL Network, the league opted to impose fines and not suspensions for the incident, which resulted in both players being ejected.

CRENNEL ASSUMES HE’LL BE BACK, AS SAVAGE THROWS HIM UNDER THE BUS

Posted by Mike Florio on November 26, 2008, 10:19 p.m.

Browns coach Romeo Crennel on Wednesday named Brady Quinn the team’s starting quarterback for 2009.

Of course, the guy who ends up coaching the Browns in 2009 might not appreciate that.

We’re kidding, sort of. But for the same reason that it’s too early to presume that someone else will be coaching the Browns next season, it’s also too early for Crennel to assume he’ll be back.

Unless, of course, he’s trying to get fired. If so, he’s doing a far better job in that regard than he’s done coaching the team.

G.M. Phil Savage apparently would agree. Savage shifted blame for the team’s lackluster 2008 performance to Crennel during Savage’s most recent weekly radio appearance.

”Hey, my responsibility is the 53-man roster, and then it’s Romeo and the rest of the coaching staff’s decision how to utilize the 45 players that are dressed on Sunday,” Savage said. “Who starts. Who plays. When they’re gonna play. How they’re gonna be utilized.

”If I’m going to get involved in those decisions, then I may as well put a headset on and double my salary.”

It’s a common theme for all too many dysfunctional NFL franchises. When the coaching staff and the front office have different standards of accountability, they’ll naturally look to blame each other when things go bad.

And so, as we’ve previously explained on numerous occasions, the coach and the G.M. should be joined at the hip. Both should stay, or both should go.

In the Browns’ case, both should go.

HANSON TIES NFL RECORD FOR 50-YARD FIELD GOALS

Posted by Michael David Smith on November 27, 2008, 2:19 p.m. EST

If nothing else, Lions fans can be thankful for kicker Jason Hanson.

When Hanson booted a 53-yard field goal today against the Titans, it was the 40th field goal of 50 or more yards in his career. That ties Morten Anderson’s record for most 50-plus-yard field goals in NFL history.

Hanson, who has played his entire career with the Lions, needed just 74 attempts from 50 or more yards to get to the record. Anderson had 84 attempts of 50 or more yards in a career that included stints with the Saints, Falcons, Chiefs, Vikings and Giants.

AARON GLENN OUT FOR SEASON

Posted by Michael David Smith on November 28, 2008, 12:09 p.m.

Saints cornerback Aaron Glenn, who has been struggling since suffering an ankle injury during the team’s Week 2 loss to the Redskins, has been placed on injured reserve.

A lot of fans had probably forgotten that Glenn, 15-year veteran, even played for the Saints. But he signed with New Orleans before the season and actually started the Redskins game.

The 36-year-old Glenn is a three-time Pro Bowler who was once among the league’s top cornerbacks, but he turns 37 before the 2009 season and may have played his last NFL game.

The Saints called up defensive end Josh Savage from the practice squad to fill the roster spot that became available when they put Glenn on IR.

Rams | Jackson optimistic about playing in Week 13
Fri, 28 Nov 2008 09:08:33 -0800
The Associated Press reports St. Louis Rams RB Steven Jackson (quadriceps) said he is optimistic about playing in the team's Week 13 game. Head coach Jim Haslett, however, is still being cautious. Haslett says the coaching staff needs some time to decide if Jackson is ready. Even if Jackson is able to return, it remains unclear how much work he will get in the game.
