Yep, i did it. I started a thread on my favorite musician/singer of all time. For those who know of him and his projects you know what im talking about. For those who dont, you need too. If you are the kind of guy that likes metal, he does that quite well with his former project STRAPPING YOUNG LAD. If your the kind of person that likes more progressive rock/metal than you would like his solo projects or OCEAN MACHINE in which he also manages to blend in a little pop there as well. Known for his comedic approach to music in general both live and on video he is just an all around great individual. Here is just a few tracks/videos to quench your earbuds. Enjoy!

You can consider me a casual fan. I probably heard most of his work when I was in the stage of insanely obssessed exploration of metal back in the days.

Actually, SYL is more thrash/industrial. His solo stuff is progressive rock/metal. Ive often compared his album "Terria" to being like a heavier version of a Pink Floyd album as it has a lot of weird soundscapes incorporated into the music.

That record got panned by the critics, but it was my favorite Vai album. Townsend is a force of nature on that record, man! |

P.S. I'm not really a metal fan, but you just can't deny Devin's talent - he is one of a kind.

I am probably just a bit more side on the progressive side than death or black.
But there is nothing more annoying death metal elitists who constantly say how ****ing technical death metal is all the time. |

Metal elitist are hilarious in all aspects. But there are some great technical death metal bands out there (Gorod, Horricane, Illogist, etc). But standard death metal arrangements are just straight forward. Even when it comes to death and black metal i prefer the more symphonic/progressive styled bands as opposed to the raw and basic death and black bands. |

To get back on great singers, I am a huge fan of Russell Allen. Honestly, that man is a beast. |
