One of the great companies in the US. Jim Koch actually give away hops to small breweries that would were in need this year, saving them for going out of business. He did that because he love the craft beers and felt America would worse with more breweries!

this is a thread for beer. Miller Lite is glorified piss water. Try again Fader and pick up some Sam Adams if you want a regular, good tasting, American Beer.

One of my favorite Sam Adams is available in my area now, Oktoberfest. Drank a few of them last night.

Actually those big giant mugs remind me of beer chugging contests we used to have back in college. I wonder if I can still drink as fast as I used to be able to? I typically enjoy savouring my beer more now.

Are there any other Oktoberfest beers available besides Sam Adams?

There how set of breweries that make Oktoberfest style lagers (formally called Marzen )

Some examples

And the 2007 medal winner breweries db.

The mugs are pretty heavy too.

I love the Sam Adams oktoberfest. I believe I can pick up Spaten Oktoberfest this fall at my local store.

If you want specialty beer ie. Octoberfest, try a specialty store that sells just alcohol. If anyone is going to OM weekend vs the Saints and needs a specific brand, ask me and I can get my Dad to drive it out when he visits in Fort Collins the same weekend. I would love to try that East beer Younglings or whatever it is called. TRADE!

Bartenders need better training. I tired of ordering Dos XX's and getting a fricking lime in the bottle. It's not a freaking corona. Clear bottle = lime, colored bottle = no lime.

They see...Mexican beer..."guess I better stick a lime in this mother". Need to teach them the difference between a lager and a pilsner.

Interesting... I had never heard this before and I don't know if I whole heartedly agree. When not ordering a Modelo Negro or a Dos Equis for a Mexican beer, I will almost assuredly order a Pacifico with a lime. Brown bottled Pacifico with a lime is just fine with me.

Also, isn't a Pilsner just another type of lager? Do you mean an amber lager vs a pale lager vs. a pilsner?

Meh, people like so much different and stupid **** rules like that don't even matter. Whatever the hell people keep ordering at any given place will take over as "the norm" whether it is universal or not.

Hell there is a guy that used to like a bud select on draft with ice and limes in the glass.

People came to me and Dos XX all the time and corrected me when I didn't put a lime in there. Customer is always right...

People are faux beer snobs who think they know stuff more so than bartenders are stupid.

So do you always serve bud select draft with ice and limes?? If you want to offer any mexican beer with a lime that is fine, just don't stick it in my bottle.

I guess since I have a real job and don't bartend I can't know anything about beer. Man, I'm so stupid. What was I thinking?

It's just a general rule of thumb. I read it one of my beer magazines.

Yes, a pilsner is a pale lager.

Here's a crazy thought...if you want a lime in your beer...wait for it...ask for it!!! Don't expect the bartender to put one in for you if you don't want it, vice versa don't put one in unless they ask for it...not being a "beer snob" just giving an example of people being presumptuos which doesn't always end well.

I had one of the new Budweiser American Ale's last night. Not to bad. I think they made it a little too mild to appeal to the average American taste buds. I think that it could be more bitter.

Wait, wait, wait. It's too mild for the average American taste buds? America, whose majority of beer drinkers (unfortunately) thrive on Miller Lite, Coors Light, and Bud Light? HA!

No, its too mild for mine. Those Miller Lite, Coors Light, etc...people will probably think of it as a strong flavored beer.

One of the few mass produced beers that I have enjoyed over the years is good ol' Michelob. I have had the amber bock several times and give it a so-so, and the ultra gets a "whats wrong with my water." But the michelob original is pretty good.

That being said, has anyone tried any of the new Michelob products? The pale ale or the dunkel?
