...and we're both stubborn enough to keep arguing!
Get your kid a phone...but get a prepaid one (just for safety issues) so if he loses it, it's not a big deal...see, I can compromise ![]() For the record though...I still disagree with the cell phone/laptops/Wii/TV etc. for a 6 year old! Last edited by Sassy; 06-15-2008 at 02:00 PM.. |

ok spider lets keep in mind this isnt the mccain vs obama thread so lets keep this civil
jk But i would agree with getting a kid a prepaid phone..........but if you get one of the contract ones i think thats kinda crazy. For one if they leave it on or use it all the time your bill will be insane........but the prepaid one is a good idea especially since you can get one want walmart for 19.99 that comes with 45 minutes loaded on it. I don't know jsut my opinion |

Just read page 1 so if anything later said I repeat ignore.
I cant even remember calling anyone at the age of 6 maybe when I was 9-10 I did but if this phone is for security and spid thinks they will keep up try it. I would go with a pre-paid phone and only in emergency's. A pre-paid phone is cheap to replace and you can limit their minutes. If spider thinks he is game I say do what I suggested and see. |

have they had verizon for a long time? If they did its probably because verizon never switched them over to the "new service"....they have 2....the old one and a new one........i used to have problems.........i called them up.... and the girl on the phone realized they never switched me over ( i guess you have to request it) ever since there hasnt been one places i haven't goten service with them....even when i was hiking and in caves.....my phone was the only one to work.

I'm not totally happy with Verizon right now (customer service issues) but they're the only cell service provider in our area that doesn't have tons of "dead zones"... so we're pretty much stuck with them.

We're pretty much going to be...Alltel and Verizon are the main ones...I think Sprint and maybe another local provider may be available...but I don't know how they are service wise...maybe AT & T.

I have no children but if you give a cell phone to a six year old when they become older what else can you give them. Your motivate should be to gradually add stuff so christmas and birthdays aren't hard to shop for. Just saying if you start out expensive like a cell phone at six just think of graduation gift. You will be tempted to top yourself every year so set the bar low while young and thus you still are cool dad with each year and better gifts.
