BTW, the guy who played bass on my last original project did several records/tours with Lyle Lovett. Small world.
I know you're a session guy (hell, maybe you're even one of the Landau's for all I know) and that you're hired to play all kinds of things..but that's not really the point I was making with the Lovette example. C&W doesn't "speak" to me on the whole at all and yet, if I didn't keep checking it out, I would've never have found that wonderful album.

Of course, to be really totally honest about things, Lyle Lovette And His Large Band has very little C&W on it...it's really an album of swing music not too different from Joe Jackson's Jumpin' Jive....the two albums together made one hell of a car cassette tape back in the day, but I digress.

Nah...Really, this is a discussion, not an all out flame war or anything. It may get a little snippy at times here and there over the course of the thread, but nothing even close to what I would deem hostile or anything.

I dunno about 90%, but we do agree on a few things...as many eclectic music lovers would.

Go back through the last 15 pages of this thread ... there's some great stuff in there if you look beyond the surface-tension masquerading as disagreement. They'd be just fine with their very own thread. I for one wouldn't miss a post
Is it weird to be flattered by this? Because I kinda am, thanks

Exactly.

If these nitwits are looking for hostility, then there's no shortage of it on the WRP and sports forums.

Not one of the Landaus (I wish!) just a second-tier guy.

I'm not a country fan either, but I listen to all those great country guitar players and try to cop as many of their licks and techniques as possible. I try to incorporate those techniques and ideas into my own style (and knowing how to play some country = more paying gigs.)

Gotta love that melancholy Irish R&B. "Domino" is a riot.

I have the 4 box set in rotation from the Sun Recordings. Burgess, Cash, Mann, Jerry Lee Lewis, and Riley to name a few of the early Blues, Country and Rockabilly greats on the box set. Mixing it up with Mike Ness (from Social Distortion) solo stuff.

Further confirmation (if any was actually needed) of just how brilliant Child Is Father To The Man really was.
