![]() ![]() This is a terrific album. It's got a little early Elvis Costello meets Nick Cave feel to it. After devouring this, check Cocker's previous band, Pulp: ![]() This is a classic of the first order. A clear predecessor to "dance-rock" bands like Franz Ferdinand and the Kaiser Chiefs. "Common People" and "I Spy" are cannon worthy tunes. Last edited by BroncoInferno; 01-26-2008 at 01:41 AM.. |

![]() I can't go with you on that one Inferno...I don't care for Pulp at all. I will admit "Common People" has some brilliant lyrics, but I much perfer the Shat's version to the original.
I know it's been posted before, but what the hell |

![]() Last night I got to see Band of Horses here in Dallas.
If you are interested in their music, I would strongly suggest seeing their live show. Some bands arent captured well in the studio, and I would consider Band of Horses one of those groups. They are a strong live performer. Their latest record doesnt capture the sonic presence of the band or the quality of a few of the players. The rhythm section is particularly outstanding live, and Ben's voice is very good. Go see 'em. "Street" fingerstyle guitar player Tyler Ramsey is traveling with them, and is also opening up the show with a virtuoso set. If you like bluegrass rags from a little bit of a raw but nicely talented player, check out Tyler. I enjoyed his playing and his set immensely. |
