![]() The defense for my team:
My team is well balanced with attention given to scoring, assits, 3 pt shooting, rebounding, blocks, and DEFENSE. Every player will know his role and execute it to perfection under popovitch. Who knows how many rings Pop will have when it's all said and done? --No one will out rebound my team. --No team will out-scrap or out-work my team. I also chose guys that have a history of having good character, so they will blend together as a unit quickly. --My team will be very hard to score on with the great defenders on the team and Popovitch's commitment to defense. C - Hakeem Olajuwon -- 50 greatest, 9 all time defensive selections, future hall of famer, All time blocks leader, 11th all time total rebounds PF - Jerry Lucas -- 50 greatest, hall of famer, 4th all time RPG SF - Bob Petit -- 50 greatest, hall of famer, 3rd all time RPG, 6th all time PPG SG - Gilbert Arenas -- Great 3 pt shooter, 20th all time PPG PG - John Stockton -- Future hall of famer, most assists all time, 5 all defensive teams Bench: PG/SG: Hal Greer -- 50 greatest, hall of famer, scoring off the bench SG: Hank Luisetti -- 2nd best player all time pre 1950, good scorer. PG: Don Buse -- 6 time all defensive team selection, good assist numbers to back up Stockton SG/SF: Bobby Jones -- 11 time all defensive team selection SG/SF/PF/C: Gus "Honeycomb" Johnson --Great defender, great scorer, great dunker, and versatile, 2 all defensive teams (Would have had more, but they started doing the all defensive selections at the end of his career.) Could guard any player on the floor. SF/PF: Bob Horry -- Big shot Bob, will nail the big 3 in crunch time C: Elmore Smith -- 2.9 blocks per game, 5th best all time COACH: Greg Popovitch -- Three time NBA champ Last edited by JCMElway; 08-31-2007 at 02:17 PM.. |

![]() Lets do as Llama suggested and do a brackett tournament and you have to argue against the other team as to why your team should move on.

First we have to rank the teams to get them in the brackets. Let's get 2 or 3 more rankings and that will be the order of the bracket. Once we have the teams ranked we'll have two brackets with the odd numbered teams in one bracket and the even numbered teams in another. The two teams can post their case as to why they would be the other team and then everyone gets a vote as to which teams would beat which. And that process would repeatr itself in the next round, up to the finals. Ultimately, I think my version of evaluation is going to work better because the bracket method is going to take some work and effort. With the dwindling number of participants here, ramping up the involvement to the process may be difficult. Anyway, if we get four more owners to say they will participate, we're a go for the bracket method. |

![]() The tournament sounds fun... I'm still interested in this thread, but I'll admit, I don't even know what to say in judging other people's teams. I mean, everybody has a set of great players. The only poor team is Ludo's, everybody else has so many strengths, it's like there's a 11-way tie for first.
But I'll keep checking in on this thread, I like reading people's analysis' of my team and the others. |

![]() It's not a feelings issue. Hell, it's not even an issue about having to give llama props on his squad, when him and I butt heads on many hoops issues. The issue is everybody outside of Ludo has an unbelievable squad. But I'll take another look and see what I can come up with.

BTW, my team is also a rebounding, defensive, boring team. And to rank all of these teams was very hard. Any one of these 16 teams has a great shot to beat any of the other teams here. I do like your team , it just comes down to splitting hairs |

![]() Starting Lineup C - Nate Thurmond PF - Ben Wallace SF - Dave DeBusschere SG - Micheal Jordan PG - Jason Kidd Coach - Pat Riley Bench C - Mark Eaton F - Paul Arizin F - Carlos Boozer F - Joe Fulks F/G - George Yardley G - Allan Houston G - T.J. Ford Starting Lineup: Jordan needs no summary. Offensively, Kidd will feed it to him on the perimeter, and to Thurmond inside. However, the obvious strength of this team is on defense. Kidd may be the best defensive point guard of his era. DeBusschere was on the 1st Team All-Defensive team every year that he was playing since it's inception. Ben Wallace has been Defensive Player of the Year 4 times. Nate Thurmond averaged 15 rebounds a game for his career(and 15 PPG)...and I heard Jordan wasn't so bad defensively either. That was my plan with the starting unit. Surround Jordan with a team that could shut down anybody, and could score enough to get by. Pat Riley is an excellent coach with a career .661 winning percentage. He can win in the Season, he can win when it counts. Bench: If my starters can't contain the opponents' scoring, however, my plan was to stock the bench with enough scorers to keep pace. I think I did alright. Arizin, Fulks and Yardley should probably be starting on somebody's team. Houston can roll in to keep Jordan fresh, or team up with him to make one of the more dynamic scoring guard pairs around. Eaton isn't meant to be a higher-scoring alternate to Thurmond, but Thurmond can score more than enough anyways. Boozer and Ford were meant to provide depth, but they're out of their league here. Of my 5 Starters, 2 are active. The 3 who aren't were on the "One of the 50 Greatest Players in NBA History" list. Off the Bench, Arizin was on the list as well. My starting unit combines for 41 All-Star Awards, 26 All-Defensive First Team Awards, 5 Defensive Player of the Year Awards, and Jordan won MVP 5 times. I think I did alright. |
