I think it will be at least 2 game.... and possibly the whole season.
I think his impact on the team is somewhat overrated. He has NFL potential, but has been overweight and a poor route runner for much of his time here. It's a catch 22 with someone like that, if you let him go who knows what will become of him as a person. If you let him back on the team then you open yourself up to critisism, especially if he ends up messing up again. Callahan has been pretty no-nonsense with players so far, Incognito comes to mind as someone that was made an example of.... so I don't know what he does here. Husker Countdown |

Too bad, but I heard he might have trouble qualifying academically anyway.

Jonas Gray commits to NU. This is a huge get....looks like BC is putting together his best class ever. Now they just need to get it done this year on the field.

That is a great commit. I'm really excited about this next class as well.
We're ranked 19th in the preseason coach's poll. We'll be tested early this season. No matter what happens in the brutal non-conference schedule, it will be most important to start out strong in the conference play, with that Missouri match up looming early on. |

Less than a month away guys! I'm getting excited, especially with practice starting. One guy I'm excited to see healthy will be Octavian. I remember being impressed with him before he got hurt. I think he can be a real playmaker on defense this year.
I also think the addition of juco transfers Murrillo and Asante in the defensive backfield could be very big this next season, especially with Bowman out for a while. They've kind of gotten lost in the Keller hype (which is a big story as well), but they could be the key to improving a big weakness from last year. Anyway, sep 1st can't come soon enough. |

It's going to be a good year fellas... I think NU will suprise alot of people this season.
Some things I am hearing out of training camp: Zach Potter - has looked very good and looks to be the starter at DE. Patrick Witt - has been so impressive in camp that some are predicting he moves past Lee and Ganz on the depth chart later on this year. Barry Turner - has put on 15-20 lbs to hold up as an every down DE. Quentin Castille - is good... very good.... and big.. very big. (254lbs of RB) Kevin Dixon - will add some needed athleticism to the DT spot. |

What with Jackson leaving and everyone but Lucky getting injured, I was starting to be concerned about the RB depth this year. I'm feeling better, though, the more I hear about this Castille kid. I can see him, Lucky, and Glenn all getting significant time in the rotation.

Sam Keller is the starter.... /obvious. http://www.columbustelegram.com/arti...rts2keller.txt
Lucky and Glenn were both held out of practice again.... I think the freshman would be fine running the ball, but blitz pickups are another story. Sophmore Major Culbert has looked good filling in and is taking the majority of snaps as well as Castille. Hopefully they are just being cautious and Lucky gets a solid week in before the first game. |

Less than a week! Our first three games are on national television, which will be great. I'm feeling a surge of optimism about this season myself. I don't know how long it will take this team to jell, but I think they could be a force by mid-season.
In humorous news, here's an excerpt from the journal star on our friends from Manhattan: Opponent watch: Kansas State Josh Freeman didn’t complete a pass in 11-on-11 drills, nobody has emerged as a No. 1 kicker or left guard, a defensive tackle quit the team and Ron Prince made some assistant coaches run stadium stairs after a Saturday practice the head coach labeled “stormy.” Other than that, everything’s swell in Manhattan. The Wichita Eagle reported that false starts, dropped passes and Freeman’s struggles all led to Prince making the entire offense, some coaches included, run stadium steps. The practice was open to fans and media. Also, Alphonso Moran, who had three tackles for loss last year against Nebraska, has quit. As for a left guard? Prince told the Eagle: “We don’t have one.” |

Well that pretty much ensures that SaulDouchebag will not be showing his face around here this season.
