Default Rapper "DMX" possibly involved in dog fighting

Just saw this on my local news, so no link, but they are reporting a raid on his Arizona residence found dogs in poor condition and the bodies of at least 2 other dogs.

Although I didn't hear about any evidence that immediately pointed to dog fighting, the video they showed of the dogs appears that they were pitbulls. Couple that with the dead bodies and I'd say it's likely thats what they were there for.

"DMX" lawyer claiming he hasn't been at the residence for at least 2 months and a caretaker was in charge of the home.

His lawyer sez they are all his pets and they are just like family members to him. 15 pitbulls as lovey-dovey little cutie pets. OK.... 3 of 'em are dead so its only 12 pitbull pets.

Maybe three died from lack of attention for 2 months.

My buddy mentioned watching that not long ago. He said he was thinking "why would someone need 50 pit bulls?" This just shows that this is part of that thug culture, and I always thought Vick was part of that.

Simmons' lawyer, Murray Richman, said "He loves these animals. Those dogs are practically his family."

Several of his cousins, his grandmother, and two uncles were also found chained up outside on the property. All claimed that they hadn't been fed for 2 months as well.

Criminals are usually stupid. This guy is obviously no exception.

Crappy music, too. Hip hop has gotten worse than "new" country music. Just the same, predictable, boring ****. I'm a badass, I shoot guns, women are b****es and, oh... look, I'm tough because I have Pit Bulls in my video.

Wake me up when one of you has an original thought.

It appears this isn't the 1st time he's been in trouble regarding animals. From Wikipedia...

- In 1999, during a blockbuster 'Hard Knock Life' tour stop in Denver, a warrant for his arrest was issued in connection with a stabbing and shooting of a man that attended one of the concerts, of which simmons was later cleared; another incident occurred in May, when he was accused of assaulting a Yonkers man who'd allegedly harassed his wife and stabbed her in the neck (the charges were once again dropped). More serious charges were brought that summer when Earl's uncle/manager was accidentally shot in the neck at a New Jersey hotel. Police later raided Earl's home and filed animal cruelty, weapons, and drug possession charges against the rapper and his wife; he eventually plea-bargained down to fines, probation, and community service.

- In 2002, he pled guilty to animal cruelty for having 13 neglected pit bulls in his possession

And this one, though not animal related, is a big one.

- In June 2004, he was arrested at JFK airport on charges of cocaine possession, criminal impersonation, criminal possession of a weapon, criminal mischief, menacing, and driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol while attempting to carjack a vehicle claiming to be a federal agent. [11]
