Its pretty much just a long episode.

Good humor, many laughs.

My son liked it.
Well at least it's a long good episode instead of a long crappy episode that has plagued the series for so many countless seasons now.

I watched it last night here in Switzerland. Completely packed house in a big theatre and everyone, including myself, laughed their ass off from start to finish. My wife doesn't like the Simpsons but even she was cracking up almost every 20 seconds. Simpsons is pretty fun to watch with 500 other people.

The Euros seemed to get the sarcasm. But in Euro style we had an intermission. WTF.

Not enough Monty Burns and Smithers for me but overall good shiat.

I have to say, as big of a Simpsons fan as I have been in the past, I'm not even excited to see this flick. The new episodes bore me, and I'm afraid that the movie will be more of the same.

The Simpsons have really taken a tumble, IMO.

The movie is good. If you like old time Simpsons you would like it.

I'm tough to please but I thought it was pretty formulaic and boring. No depth into the family, not any call backs to prior episodes, so why make a movie?

The movie should either be a homage to the entire series with numerous call backs and references to the past or a totally unique, interesting, and in depth plot... it was neither.

It was basically one random episode stretched to 1:15 minutes.

However, the audience lapped it up like Pavlov's dog. Seriously, they could have put anything up on the screen and the audience would have gone ape ****. Also, why bring 2 years olds to a movie? God I hate people.

One of the things that made the Simpsons movie good, unlike the recent seasons, is that a lot of the writers from the earlier years are involved in this movie. There's the magic of the golden age episodes as I previously mentioned.

I thought it was a really funny with a 20 minute downtime in it. If you need to go pee do it when they arrive in Alaska. Several really funny moments in a good movie. I got to drink Duff beer while watching it

Seriously, and their parents are oblivious. The kids are like playing bumper karts through the aisle or god knows what. I did the startled "look over the shoulder for something mysteriously hitting your seat" several times and not once did I hear the slightest comment from the parents. wtf? My parents tried taking me to some Disney movie at like age 2, I started acting up before the movie even started up and they took me home. The manager was so surprised he actually gave them coupons, which is kind of a sad statement. Either get a babysitter or wait til it comes out.

Depends on the movie IMO - but I hear what you are saying.

I havent seen a movie in the theaters that I personally have wanted to see in....well...since my son was born just over 3 years ago....for the obvious reasons you hinted at above. I wont be that parent who brings a toddler into a packed theater.

Instead, I have seen every single kiddie flick released in the theaters since he was born

You want to talk about cinema hell? Try the matinee showing of Curious George! The things we parents subject ourselves to.....

Back on track - glad to hear people are liking this movie! Maybe worth hiring a babysitter for?

Oh dont get me wrong - not ripping on Curious George the movie itself - just the experience of going to a theater packed with toddlers...

7th gate of hell I tell ya! And thats pretty much how my movie going has been for the past 3 years and 2 months. lol

I used to love the Simpsons when I was a kid, but haven't watched it much lately. The movie sounds funny, but I'll probably wait til it comes out on DVD or ends up on OnDemand. I'm not much for the theater.

I also dislike people bringing young children to the movies.

My son is nine and i take him.

Hes old enough to see most PG-13 movies.

Maybe the Simpson's was border line.

its too short for an actual movie and too long for this kind of thing. the opener with itchy & skratchy was just plain awesome, but the movie peaked just about there. the story sucked.
sounds like the aqua teens movie. i fell for that hype and was burned. that movie blew.

For fans of old Simpsons, this movie is not very good.

Disappointing.

They should have brought in the big gun writers for this one...Conan, etc.

I went last night. Most of the movie was good, but it went on too long. There needed to be a good subplot involving a minor character to warrant the movie length. No, Lisa's new boyfriend doesn't count. It still revolves around Lisa (a major character). While I laughed plenty of times during the movie, I found myself ready to leave the theater after a while.
