We're the only species on Earth even capable of compassion yet were supposed to be blamed and ashamed if we can't/don't always exercise it to our utmost ability, to the point of being damaging to our own interests? We're supposed to be looking out for the animals interests according to the film but a species can't survive if in the end it doesn't look out for itself first and most importantly. Humans first, animals second and that has nothing to do with intelligence or right of might. We can't survive without animals and a lot of them and the only way to have a lot of them may not be in the most "humane" way but it has to be done. Our responsibility in all of this is proper management so we don't reduce them to extinction. Their species survives, our species survives, in this argument and on this scale it isn't about the individual.

Very powerful stuff. This production makes some very valid points and is point blank true in the way we, as a species, treat other species on this planet.
Our cruelty to other Earthlings knows no bounds. We are a factory of consumers that process other sentient beings for our benefit. Yet, 99% of all humans choose to look away, and ignore our cruelty. Fact is, if I had to process everthing I eat, I'd probably choose to grow veggies and harvest crops rather than kill an animal on a regular basis. But, we are so sheltered from our horrific slaughter houses that it's far too easy for you and me to not give it a second thought. Also, what is unfathonable, IMHO, is our treatment of the vast majority of domesticated pets that we choose to keep as companions. We want pets to comfort us and make us feel good, yet we do so little for the suffering of our companions, and we allow the suffering to go on, again, with little thought about the long term health of so many of these fine companions. Very sad, but very true. I don't have a problem with this film because I can face the ugly truth: I'm part of the reason so many animals are suffering. I do what I can in my own little way to keep my immediate campions comfortable but I don't do enough for all the other millions of animals that are kicked around, beaten, abused, warehoused, slaughtered, processed, tortured and killed every day in this country. It's hard to fathom the full extent of our cruelty when it comes to how many animals are suffering every day, around the world. We as humans should be considered the custodians of planet Earth. And, if we are the custodians, we are doing horrific job of taking care of the Earth, and all of her blessed creations. Last edited by Tombstone RJ; 07-28-2007 at 06:44 PM.. |

Cows are stupid. Hunting the wild cow? Elk is what a man eats and go shopping for it yourself. Don't tell me. You are not a man. Barbariac? Pelicans are cute. Don't you watch Disney movies? Barbaric is mankind. We seem to have no problem with murder much less survival.

It's disturbing to say the least... Unfortunately i am not prepared to become a vegetarian. Though i did put a stop to the pork products after seeing a similiar video a few months ago. Maybe one day I'll give up the cows and chickens...

My Grandma had a shotgun and she'd be feeding the wolve pieces to the hogs. I think meat eaters should be forced to kill what the eat. It would actually be smart because I doubt you'd eat some of the half dead animals that end up in slaughter. Animals doped up with drugs, antibiotics and whatever to stay alive long enough to kill? It would be better if we grew them organic and killed them with a little dignity. We want everything easy, pre-packaged and handed to us. Ronald McDonald is a guy named Ron whose smoking a butt while he's ripping the gut out of a cow trying to fix you something to eat. That ain't make around his mouth. That my man is blood. Ron's gotta eat too you know. (Burp!) I'm not a vegetarian but I sure can pimp it like one. In Iraq I ha've sat down with a shiek who killed a goat for our parties honor. Our bodies cannot eat a lot of the food common to Iraqi people because our systems have not adjusted. Mine didn't care. Stomach like a wolf. |

Man is a violent animal by nature , some kill for food , some kill for sport , others kill over possessions or territory ..........
I eat meat , lived on a farm , I know the score ........ but killing is one thing , torture is another .......But I am not going to call meat packing plants a place of Holocaust , or Genocide ........ Animals are here for a reason ........ to serve us .. Hunting = Population control ... |

Famine would come only because our greedy a$$es ran out of resources because we are too stupid to manage what we have. Any famine that happens in our lifetime we created so whatever the price of that is remains truly part of the original cost. Rigs11 isn't on any high horse. I am. Screw all you soul stealing cannibals. I bet you keep a dog around the house as food storage. Family pet my ass! |

Squirrel is miserable and anybody who eats a possum is just plain desperate. Bear is gamey, greasy and if you see on skinned you'll never want to eat one again. Cat is stringy and nasty no matter how you marinade it. It's like sucker fish. You think you can make it taste right but you can't.
Oh yeah. I was talking to a Christian convert who used to be a cannibal who had an incredible testimony. During the Q&A he confessed he could no eat pork no matter how it was served because it tasted to much like people. A little FYI for you guys trying to plan the right marinade for your trip to the Andes. A chianti might be a little too delicate for most pallates. |

And you call it a ****ty documentary? Holy ****, did you even watch it? The dialog is eloquent and to the point, the footage used shows just enough brutality to truely paint a picture for your average clueless person. The horrors that some animals are forced to endure are unbelievable. Congratulations on being a completely ignorant dumbass. |
