Nice pick. I decided to go with Greer instead of Thompson because of the abuse problems. Still, I was hoping he'd make it back to me. Ah, well..... |

haha, no prob. I wanted with Greer or the guy I chose, Sam Jones. Greer would have gotten the nod had they both been on the board, but I feel I still got a quality player.

With my 6th pick the team to be named later selects: Billy "Kangaroo Kid" Cunningham
Billy Cunningham played fiercely, coached intensely, and won frequently. And he made it to the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame with a career that reads like a how-to book for legends. As a player and then a coach for the Philadelphia 76ers, he was part of two NBA championship teams. Among his numerous career achievements, he was named to the 1966 NBA All-Rookie Team and three All-NBA First Teams. In 1996, he was named to the NBA 50th Anniversary All-Time Team. more... Well, I am at sort of a disadvantage taking over Slap's team and having to catch up and all. But anyways, I can think of no better player to take as a sixth man than the best sixth man of all time (not to mention, one of the best nicknames of all time)...
Vinnie "The Microwave" Johnson "Johnson earned the nickname "the Microwave" from Boston Celtics guard Danny Ainge for his ability to score many points in a short period of time (i.e., Johnson could heat up the offense of the team in short order) and his "instant defense". ![]() Because I'm jumping in late, I put everyone's teams into a spreadsheet so that I wouldn't take anyone already chosen. However, if I do, please don't hate! Flying Lithuanians PG - Dennis Johnson SG - Jerry West SF - Rick Barry PF - Kevin McHale C - Bob Lanier G - Vinnie Johnson |

With the 2nd pick in the 7th round the team to be named later selects:
Bill Laimbeer In 14 bruising NBA seasons Bill Laimbeer made up for his minuscule vertical leap, slow feet, and sluggishness by becoming a master of posturing, muscling, and anticipating -- plus fomenting trouble, pretending to be fouled, and drawing his opponents' ire. Laimbeer was one of the most notorious players ever to throw an elbow, thrust a hip, or feign being fouled. Certainly, no player was ever showered with more boos or unflattering nicknames. Laimbeer was called "the prince of darkness," "a street thug," "an ax murderer," and "His Heinous." more... Nathaniel S. Flying Lithuanians take...
"Reign Man" Shawn Kemp ![]() The Seattle SuperSonics drafted Kemp in the first round of the 1989 NBA Draft and he quickly became a force to be reckoned with. Kemp was one of the NBA's premier high flyers with outstanding leaping abilities. At the time, he was the youngest player in the NBA. Half-court lob passes from Gary Payton to Kemp became a regular sight to see. Together with Payton, Detlef Schrempf, Sam Perkins, Hersey Hawkins, and other stars, they became a highly successful squad. After Kemp's second NBA season, he picked up the nickname "Reign Man." Conflicting accounts attribute this to his love of the Seattle weather as a rookie, as well as his appreciation of the Dustin Hoffman movie "Rain Man."[4] Statistics SEASON TEAM GP GS MPG FG% FT% RPG APG PPG '89-90 Seattle 81 1 13.8 .479 .736 4.3 0.3 6.5 '90-91 Seattle 81 66 30.1 .508 .661 8.4 1.8 15.0 '91-92 Seattle 64 23 28.3 .504 .748 10.4 1.3 15.5 '92-93 Seattle 78 68 33.1 .492 .712 10.7 2.0 17.8 '93-94 Seattle 79 73 32.9 .538 .741 10.8 2.6 18.1 '94-95 Seattle 82 79 32.7 .547 .749 10.9 1.8 18.7 '95-96 Seattle 79 76 33.3 .561 .742 11.4 2.2 19.6 '96-97 Seattle 81 75 34.0 .510 .742 10.0 1.9 18.7 '97-98 Cleveland 80 80 34.6 .445 .727 9.3 2.5 18.0 '98-99 Cleveland 42 42 35.1 .482 .789 9.2 2.4 20.5 '99-00 Cleveland 82 82 30.4 .417 .776 8.8 1.7 17.8 '00-01 Portland 68 3 15.9 .407 .771 3.8 1.0 6.5 '01-02 Portland 75 5 16.4 .430 .794 3.8 0.7 6.1 '02-03 Orlando 79 55 20.7 .418 .742 5.7 0.7 6.8 Flying Lithuanians PG - Dennis Johnson SG - Jerry West SF - Rick Barry PF - Kevin McHale C - Bob Lanier G - Vinnie Johnson PF - Shawn Kemp |

So Clockwork gets 2 picks, yes? His 6th and now his 7th? Has anybody heard from him?
I saw his name mentioned as possibly leaving over the whole Slap deal. Don't know if there is any merit, just saw his name involved. Anyways, I'm gone for the weekend, so I will shoot JCM a PM for my pick, which is next after CO. |

I hate to keep replacing folks, but Clockwork has not posted on the Mane since June 26. He left me no indication that he was going on vacation, so I asked Dipso to come in and run his draft. Hopefully he'll say yes. If anyone knows anybody who would be interested in taking over the team please let me know.
And, if CW comes back in, he gets his slot back. So, CW has until 11 AM Friday to make two selections. |

As the David Stern of this league I am disappointed that Slap and CW aren't making their picks. But, in order to get a fair draft for all of the teams I think it's necessary that teams miss no more than one or two picks. Otherwise we'd have a Washington Generals in the mix.
As I have said before, if Slap and CW get back in here they may have their teams back. If they do not like who was selected for them they may discard those players and replace them immediately. However, in order to keep it fair for all involved, the draft will roll on. I hope dumping drafters so quickly doesn't ruffle anyones feathers, but I think this course of action necessary with such a short draft. And now back to your regularly scheduled programming...... |
