The Washington Capitals have signed forward Viktor Kozlov to a two-year deal worth $5 million.

Caps signing #2, Viktor Kozlov for 2-years and $5M total.
Not terrible if he's the RW signing and not the C signing. Next will be Yashin, and the Caps will have a 100% Russian 1st line. |

I dunno...they are good signings but they overpaid big time for Gomez...over 7m per season. And remember, now that they also signed Drury means that they cannot resign Shanahan and will also lose Nylander.

Awesome! It's not really a terrible overpayment either considering the inflated marketplace.

Well ESPN is reporting he went to Philly. I am now confused.
Never mind I am a dumb dumb I read Smith and it wasn't even the right spelling. The Avs have made some nice moves. Last edited by theAPAOps5; 07-01-2007 at 10:58 PM.. |

Renting him out doesn't seem like such a good idea now does it Edmonton. Smyth has an uncanny knack to be near the net at the perfect time. I love his addition to the team.

You guys definitely did.
I am waiting for Shero to do something. I am hearing that we are extremely close to signing Kariya and Danny Markov, should be official in the morning but we will see. EDIT: Crap, Kariya just signed with STL. WTF. I thought we had this wrapped up. Dammit Shero.

This is awesome. I'm really excited about next years team which should have a great blend of young talent and proven stars. Any rumors of other possible targets as we head into the second tier of free agency? I'm really happy with today's moves, so nothing will upset me from here on out.

Awesome that we got Hannan and Smyth. Two guys that killed the Avs in the past and two types of players the Avs needed; a defensive defenseman and a forward who can score garbage goals. Now we just need for Foppa's ankle to heal properly and sign him to round of the team.
Love the first two lines: Wolski-Sakic-Bruno Smyth-Stastny-Hejduk Add a healthy Leopold and Hannan to a blueline that played much better in the last quarter of the season. I can't wait for training camp to roll around, both Avs and Broncos!!! On another note, it's a shame that this thread is stuck in a sub-forum that nobody checks. Hockey fans already get the short end of the stick in America when it comes to coverage. How many Versus jokes have you seen in the last few months? Bill Simmons continually kills this league in his columns and chats. If ESPN rams any more NBA crap down my throat I'm going to puke. |

I just got back from this mini-vacation and was watching the bottom line on ESPN news and saw the Avs signed Scot Hannan. I thought that was cool, flipped back to a different channel and back again and saw the Smyth signing.
Ryan Smyth?!! WOW!! I almost couldn't be happier with these 2 signings. The only thing it tells me is that Forsberg won't be back with the Avs in all likelihood, which really does bum me out. I hope I'm wrong. |
