Great list. I like how high you have Willie Dixon ranked. He's remembered more as a starmaker, but he was an incredible performer, too.
Ten more albums not on your list: Buddy Guy and Junior Wells - Play the Blues Junior Wells - Hoodoo Man Blues Little Milton - Welcome to the Club BB King - Live at San Quentin Freddie King - The Shelter Records Years Albert Collins - Cold Snap John Lee Hooker - Plays and Sings the Blues Elmore James - The Sky Is Crying Hound Dog Taylor - Beware of The Dog Son Seals - Midnight Son |

Good stuff thus far but I generally hate these top ten of all time lists...so I'm not going to do that, I'll just list my faves instead, in no particular order:
1. BB King - Live At Cook County Jail 2. Bobby Blue Bland - The Best Of Bobby Blue Bland 3. R.L. Burnside - Mississippi Blues 4. John Lee Hooker - The Hook 5. J.B. Hutto & The Hawks - Hawk Squat 6. Elmore James - The Sky Is Crying, The History Of Elmore James 7. Junior Kimbrough - Most Things Haven't Worked Out 8. Freddie King - Ultimate Collection 9. Magic Sam - West Side Soul 10. Hound Dog Taylor - Natural Boogie |

Nice list Hogan, i have just about all of this music here. Magic sam was a great guitar player. I also love the more primitive blues like, Son house, Charley Patton, Blind Willie Mctell, Honey Boy Williams. |

Wow, I wouldn't even begin to try and answer that. I can't even name a personal favorite because there are just too many options. I guess, from a historical perspective, Robert Johnson and Muddy Waters would have to receive strong consideration.

Robert Johnson was probably the greatest song writer ever in my opinion, with respect to Dylan. Muddy is right up there too as one of the best.

For myself, I love bottleneck guitar and the looser and wilder it is, the more I'm interested in it. That's why albums like Hound Dog Taylor's get a lot of spins around my house....that stuff is barely under control. I also love live shows that are like that...BB King's Live at the Regal, Cook County and Blues Is King are all examples of that as well. |

Have you guys seen the movie "lighting in a bottle"? I have the dvd and cd set from the show. It was a great look into the history of the blues. The story is great, BB King gave a great little proformance. |

Ever seen Deep Blues? or That's me up there laughing (not sure if that title's correct or not). There was another one I used to see alot where they tried tracing Robert Johnson's legend & death that included some great performances of his material by Govt. Mule and Chris Whitley, amongst others......I'll be damned if I can remember the name of it but Whitley's performance of "Hellhounds" is really wild and not to be missed. I miss that guy R.I.P. |

Son House is another that i enjoy. He has that haunting sounds that kinda gives me chills. He pretty much taught a lot of the blues men to play guitar. |

I like Son.
That film was indeed called 'Hellhounds on my Trail - The Afterlife of Robert Johnson" it's pretty cool. Here's Whitley doing the title track: |

I also have Charley Pattons complete recordings with some old tracks from Son. They were transfered from 45's to cd and remastered. They sound all faded, but i love the sound.
