Can We Go Into On-Season Mode Early? - The Orange Mane

I'm serious. If I want to chat about -- or read threads about -- WWE wrestlers and 16-year-old brides and Nirvana there are a dozen websites better suited to such stuff. But this remains the single best Bronco website. It would be nice if the front page was exclusively, or even predominately, Bronco/NFL related.

Maybe all the non-football stuff can get exiled to the off-topic or off-season areas? And maybe the Central Discussion area can always remain Bronco/NFL centric?

If nothing else, it might generate more football chat.

I don't think there's much to talk about regarding football right now.
I wouldn't mind going into on-season mode, though. Bah... actually... I really don't care.

If you don't feel there are enough football threads or quality threads then there is an easy way to change that.

Make one.

"What will be the first play the Broncos run?"

So what do you suggest getting rid of Boob, Crazyhorse, and Zach? I doubt that flies with .05% of this board... unfortunately, that .05 has 99.999% of the vote in making such call.

So, even when we go into "On-Season" mode, you can count on the front page being riddled with stuff other than the Broncos/NFL centric

How many times can one talk about the draft, the mini camps, the OTA's. I think every topic that could possibly be discussed has been again and again and again. Relax the first week of traing camp is getting near.

But I'd argue that it is football related. We need more football chat on here. You guys are mocking the other board and their "what will be the first play" thread, but that actually might generate some interesting discussion. To wit:

I was disappointed in 'Dinger's play calling this past year -- and this after having been a Dinger fan in his previous stint here. So was his poor playcalling due to Plummer's limitations? The poor line play? The RB shortcomings? Or that Shanny was actually still calling things?

I think Dinger was limited not just by Plummer but by the line injuries, and the lack of a solid RB option. But Plummers bootleg being taken killed any type of plan.

Dinger's kid played on my nephew's peewee team. I always liked him. Had high hopes for his return, but the offense underwhelmed me last year. I wonder if all the many semi-AHC titles that Shanny is throwing out is clouding matters. and I wonder if Dinger is actually that good. This year will tell, surely.

And on an unrelated note: let's go into on-season mode, moderators!

Shanny has taken the calling away from Kubes so I bet he won't hesitate to do the same if it becomes an issue. I really think it was a product of the O-Line injury/Foster, and Plummers pathetic pocket passing that limited the calls.

I would argue that some of the off-topic threads are where you really get a chance to know people on here. I feel I have a few really solid friends on the Mane, and the way I got to know them was largely through off-the-wall, strange threads.

As long as there are a bunch of silly "Hixon" threads, banning the off-topic issues won't improve the dialogue around here. I'm hoping it is just a fad and the people posting all the Hixon nonsense will stop once there is real football to discuss again.

Sometimes i wish i could just go to sleep and wake up when pre season starts. Then on season mode would be in full effect. And maybe mock would have returned by then.

Shanny runs a ol' boy system with most of his staff. Dinger was only a WR coach when he was here, Kubes, Gibbs and Turner had more to do with the O than Dinger. When he left where did he really have great success?? One season out of NY and they turned around the O completely. The Titans weren't setting the league on fire either.

I think Shanny's still running the show, Dinger will send him plays and such and Shanny's the one who pull the trigger. Last year they were hampered by the talent we had. You have to play to your strengths and last year our team didn't have too many of them on offense at least.
